About this audiobook
fought. Stories are forged that will be passed down from student to student for years to come.
This year’s lock-in begins normally enough. Then a group of students led by Marisa Cuevas stage
an ecoprotest and chain themselves to the doors, vowing to keep everyone trapped inside until their list
of demands is met.
Some students rally to their cause … but others are aggrieved to watch their own plans fall apart.
Amira has trained all year to compete in the school decathlon on her own terms. Peejay intended to
honor his brother by throwing the greatest party CIS has ever seen. Kenji was looking forward to making
a splash at his improv showcase. Omar wanted to spend a little time with the boy he’s been crushing on.
Celeste, adrift in a new country, was hoping to connect with someone—anyone. And Marisa, once so
certain of her goals, must now decide how far she’ll go to attain them.
Every year, lock-in night changes lives. This year, it might just change the world.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was a mess to read in an audiobook format. But, the premise is good. Also not sure how to review a lockdown while the world is on lockdown.
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5By the end it's an enjoyable conclusion, but it doesn't stop relying on cliches or repeating itself over and over for well past the first dragging half of the book.
If you can listen to the first half at about 2.5 speed, then slow it down to about 1.5 for the last third, and I'm between at double speed, you might be able to enjoy it. My 13 year old couldn't stand it any more after about a third of the book, and bailed. It tells heavily on being important, rather than good, and there are plenty of important books that are also good.
Definitely not recommended.
