- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Tayari Jones has done it like she always does. She is a unique writer that writes in such a way you see both sides and understand where they are both coming from. With her, it’s so hard to know her bias or her stance on issues. She tells the story for both ends and allows you decide for yourself your own side on your own. With this story, we see how bigamy plays on the two women and their daughters. How each other them react and try to “overcome” the situation. Amazing read for me!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5I love love Tayari’s writing. I actually recommend her work to anyone who is in a reading slump. I really enjoyed the first part of the book (Dana’s POV), it was more interesting to me. James Witherspoon has a secret family and Dana is the illegitimate child, while Chaurisse is the daughter in his public marriage. The book explores secrecy, loneliness and desire.
The ending was anticlimactic but the book is still worth it. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Wow! This book broke me. I need to sit down, gather my thoughts and come back to write this review. What a rollercoaster of emotions!
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5It was a good book but I hated the ending
