He attended the University of Maryland on an engineering scholarship, but dropped out to fly helicopters with the US Army.
He served in Vietnam as an army attack helicopter pilot flying more than six hundred combat missions. His area of operation was predominantly in the Cu Chi District along the North Vietnamese Army’s main infiltration routes from Cambodia. After leaving active duty, Wayne flew with the NY Army National Guard. He also served as a charter pilot, a first officer for a commuter airline, and flew himself in private aircraft for business and personal travel. Wayne’s love of aviation eventually brought him to special interest magazine publishing where he worked for Rotor & Wing International and FLYING magazines. He started as an advertising sales representative and worked his way up to Vice President of one of the world’s largest magazine publishing companies, Hachette Filipacchi Media. Wayne left the corporate world to start a publisher’s representative business where he worked under contract for FLYING, Women’s Sports & Fitness, Women’s Sports on Campus, HS Sports, Warren Miller’s Snow World, Shooting Times, and Running Times. Throughout his career, Wayne has been active in combat shooting sports and martial arts. He draws on his personal experiences to lend authenticity to his novels.view less
