I am sometimes prone to exaggeration.Although I now write and walk my labradoodles (almost) full time, I have in the past worked as a waitress, pill packer, shop assistant, nanny, child minder, shelf-stacker, cook, clerk, cleaner, teacher, hypnotherapist, mother and lots of other things I can't remember. My experiences as a teacher and therapist, working with emotionally disturbed young people led me into writing novels. The children I worked with were, without exception, amazing people with big personalities and tremendous strength of character, but they carried with them some very heavy emotional baggage. My first novel, 'Where Bluebirds Fly' was inspired by the metaphor of difficult emotions being like a bag of stones, weighing you down.Since Where Bluebirds Fly, I have gone on to complete two further novels with similar themes. Bring Me Sunshine, short-listed for the Mslexia Children's Novel Competition 2013, and How to be Lucky. Both are due to be published on Smashwords and other platforms in late 2012/early 2013.view less
