PIERS MORGAN – DEPART OR IMPART?
A Whitehouse.gov petition is calling for the deportation of Piers Morgan over his suggestion that we amend the Bible and also the 2nd amendment. U.S. citizens can file a petition on the White House Web site if they collect at least 25,000 signatures within 30 days. The White House is then obliged to issue a response. At the time of penning this article, the petition is nearing the 100,000 mark, four times the number needed for the White House to respond.
Morgan states: America’s unique fondness for guns
began more than 200 years ago cemented by hatred of us Brits and the War of Independence.
Wait a minute, this is the same Piers Morgan who was, according to Wikipedia: "...fired as Editor of the Daily Mirror on 14 May 2004 after authorizing the newspaper's publication of photographs allegedly showing Iraqi prisoners being abused by British Army soldiers from the Queen’s Lancashire Regiment. Within days the photographs were shown to be crude fakes. Under the headline ‘SORRY... WE WERE HOAXED’, the Mirror responded that it had fallen victim to a ‘calculated and malicious hoax’ and apologized for the publication of the photographs."
That said, if the United States hadn’t been armed more than 200 years ago, we wouldn’t have been able to free ourselves from a country that still believes in taxing its people into poverty so that a handful of royalty can: eat the choicest tidbits, wear the latest designers’ fashionista garments, drive gilded carriages drawn by the most expensive horse flesh, and in a nutshell—live in various castles and holdings strewn across the kingdom like the royalty they consider themselves to be. If the British people are willing to live like peasants so a select family—royalty—may live like antiquated kings and queens with all the trappings, by all means, that’s their choice. Perhaps Charles Dickens wouldn’t have left us such a descriptive body of literary work if the kings and queens of England had owned fewer jewels, eaten a little less cake, and vowed to help their people a tad more with basic necessities like food, shelter, and clothing—during the best of times and the worst of times.
Once free from humanity impressed by, and willing to support conspicuous consumption, the people of the United States were able to survive and prosper and were in a position to later prevent Great Britain from being overrun by Hitler’s Nazi Germany. Has Piers Morgan forgotten he might not be here today if Hitler had conquered his Motherland?
On a different note: Was Piers Morgan brought over to America by CNN because they needed ratings? An awe factor—Piers says something outrageous so Tweeters will be all atwitter? People will tune in to see what he’s going to say next in attack interviews? Then of course, there’s Trending. My first reaction when I first checked out Piers Morgan’s interviewing style, Why would anyone subject themselves to this man’s verbal digs?
I tend to agree with some who have also stated, I’m not impressed with the British accent.
When I recently brought up the subject of Piers Morgan to my daughter by saying, Piers Morgan thinks the Bible should be amended—I’ll bet the man’s never read it in its entirety because he obviously has minimal comprehension of its content.
My astute daughter replied, Mom, most people haven’t read the entire Bible. And people are notorious for quipping bits and pieces out of context to suit their agenda.
For a minute there, I had forgotten that indeed, most people have not read straight through from Genesis to Revelation, nor have they studied the Book inductively to understand how the books are all interconnected—all a part of a magnificent whole. I was reminded of what Anonymous said. Truth is always elusive to the intellectual vanity of the self-centered.
I thought about the life span of a human being who lives to be sixty-five years of age. During school years, students are busy with homework and reading secular books. If they’re fortunate enough to have been born in a Christian home, they study the Bible in Sunday school gleaning information about the most well-known Bible characters: Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David, Solomon, Jonah, Samson, Joseph, Ruth, Esther, Mary, John the Baptist, the twelve disciples, Paul, and Jesus. The churches I grew up in skipped around the books when studying the Bible so I knew only various stories from the Old Testament that were not always tied together and related to those in the New Testament. Or, so I thought.
