About this ebook

Eternal commitment is not on her agenda…but time's running out for the king of the vampires. Can these fated mates come to an agreement, or will they fight destiny tooth and nail to deny the sparks that fly between them?

Scorned by the vampire community for her lack of power, Isabel Anthony lives a carefree existence masquerading as human—although drifting after dark through the debauched human nightlife, she prefers the patrons' blood to other indulgences. But when she meets the sexy, arrogant king of the vampires—who is nothing but sweet temptation—this party-girl's life turns dark and dangerous.

Dead-set on finding the prophesied mate who will unlock his fiery powers, Thad Morgan must find his queen before their race is destroyed. Their enemies are gaining ground, and Thad needs his powers to unite his subjects. But when his search leads him to the defiant Isabel, he wonders if fate had gotten it seriously wrong…

This was a DNF for me. I found nothing likeable in any of the characters. Thad was major wimp, what kind of king is that?

Wizards, Vampires, Humans, OH MY!!! Oh. Emm. Gee. This book was totally, incredibly AWESOME! Elizabeth Staab pulled me into the story instantly, kept me hooked with the suspense and the laughs, not to mention the sexy, gorgeous Vamp guys, and didn't let me go until I reached that last page. When I reached the last page, well, let's just say that I cried.....but NOT for the reason you may think. It's because now I have to WAIT for another one to release, and I don't think I'll be patient enough for that! :-)Thad Morgan is a vampire to DIE for! Literally! I could picture him in front of me, and oh la la! His character was heartfelt and true, and really knew what he wanted when he was looking for Isabel. He's destined to be King, but first, he has to get his power. That's something he needs to find his mate for, but only ONE woman, Isabel, could be her, for she bears the identical brand that he does. Convincing her, however, is a totally different thing.Isabel is a beautiful vampire, but she's been alone for far too long, after the death of her parents. She'll only feed on humans and won't date for long periods of time. What she can't understand though, is why on Earth her back won't stop hurting since she was branded. That is, until she meets Thad. When a wizard shows up to where she and her best friend Alexia live, Thad's forced to get her...and her friend, Alexia....out of there and back to his mansion in Virginia. Once there, things begin to happen to Isabel that she just can't explain. Especially between her and her King. Until something, or someone wants her dead, and Thad will do what ever it takes to let her know that she WILL be his Queen and not just because they're destined for it.....will she finally realize her destiny? Or will it be too late? Reading about these amazing vampires, was, as I said, AWESOME. I haven't read many paranormal vampire novels, but boy, oh boy am I ever glad that I have started because there's just something super sexy about a caring, loving vampire! Elizabeth Staab did an incredible job at creating Thad and Isabel's characters. While the book focuses on them, Ms. Staab adds amazing secondary themes and characters with Lee, Tyra, Anton, and Siddoh. I could see them all come to life before me and the book played out in front of me perfectly. If you are looking for a novel that will hook you with so many elements, from anger to happiness to laughs and thrilling suspense, then look no further than Ms. Staab's fantabulous 5 Book worthy novel. It will hook you start to finish, and leave YOU crying at the end when you realize you have to WAIT! I can't wait to see what Prince Of Power, Anton and Tyra's story holds for Ms. Staab's readers! Can't wait until 2013 for that one! This review originated at Reviews By Molly.

Threads of an intriguing story loosely joined, but missing details to tie them together cohesively.
I also struggled with following inconsistent character traits.
    Good ideas. Needs more editing.

Can't do it. I guess I have standards when it comes to paranormal romance. And this book? Just... No. The premise of the story is OK, but all the pseudo slang drags me out of the story every time I'm getting into it. And tbh, the sex scenes are uninspired and not that hot. Thank *goodness* this was a Scribd Select, cause if I'd had to pay for it, I'd be even more annoyed...

King of Darkness is the first book in a new series from Elisabeth Staab. It focuses on Thad, the king of the vampires, searching for his mate to help him rule. When he finally finds her, the situation she is in is the very last one he ever expected. I did not quite see it coming either and loved that the first chapter we get with this couple was filled with humor and unexpected situations.I like the idea behind this book and the direction the storyline was heading, but it felt like something was missing. I think it was the emotional connection between Thad and Isabel that was lacking the most. Once I did get to know Thad and Isabel better, I grew to like them, but it did take a while. I think that this story has a lot of potential; I just wanted more of an emotional connection. This was one of those books when the characters leap in with lust and grow to love later. Their dialogue also seemed to be a little inconsistent. The way they spoke did not always line up with their actions and it was almost like two different characters words were coming out of the one characters mouth. There were also multiple storylines going on in this book and it took me a little while to adjust. Being a lover of paranormal romance, I know that multiple stories go on at the same time, but there are at least five going on in this book and at times it was a lot to take in. I did get into the swing of it eventually, but just a heads up that you will have a couple of people’s fates running through your head as you read this book. I am sure getting into the heads of both Anton and Tyra will help set up their book since we already have a connection with them from this one. I am interested to see where their story will take them, especially since they are on opposite sides of this war.Overall, I am intrigued by this world, but I am not in love with it. I wanted to connect with Thad and Isabel more and I just didn’t. When the next book comes out, I will give it a try and just hope for more of a connection. Since we do get to see so much from Anton and Tyra and this book I think I will enjoy their book more. I would read a couple other reviews or read a few of chapters before you give this book a try to see what others think and get a feel for the multiple point of views.
