    Note to the Leader

    Thank you for accepting the challenge of leading a small group through this Next Door Savior study. Although we’ve included a box of resources to make your job easier, it will still involve a healthy investment on your part. But we’re confident that your investment will be infinitely rewarding. We pray along with you that participants in this study will gain a deeper understanding of the Incarnation and a greater love for Christ.

    As you unpack these materials and think about this study, here are a few points to remember.

    Preparation

    As the Boy Scout motto says, Be prepared. This begins on a personal level as you familiarize yourself with the sessions, the DVD/VHS, and the other resources. Take time to watch all the video clips of Max and the testimonies as you work through the lesson plans. Then you won’t be caught by surprise in any session.

    Good preparation also means being prepared spiritually. Ask God to give you insight and guidance as you lead, and begin now to pray for your group, even if you don’t yet know the specific participants.

    Before leading each session, watch the Leader’s Edge segment for that session. That’s where Max gives encouragement and teaching tips for a specific session. Next, work through the session yourself, watching the video at the right points and answering the questions. Be sure to read the Leader’s Notes in the shaded boxes and highlight those that you want to remember.

    Just before each session, make sure your DVD or video equipment is in working order and turned on with the volume at the proper level. Then all you have to do is hit one button to begin. Think through the physical environment and
