They are given special powers over the weather by The Weather God as long as use their powers to help people and the planet.

Their secret headquarters is on Cloud Nine and they use the Rainbow Superhighway to travel all over the world.

In this book they battle with Doctor Vile who has created a monster out of garbage, waste and rubbish and is about to attack a school in a small town.

In other stories they take on The Wicked Weather Witch and Old Father Grime.

David Callinan is a novelist and musician/songwriter. He is the author of the sci-fi classic 'Fortress Manhattan' and has recently released the first of a thriller series featuring ex assassin, ex cop and ex monk, Mike Delaney titled 'The Immortality Plot'. Other near-the-knuckle thrillers include: 'Knife Edge'; 'An Angel On My Shoulder' and 'Bodyswitch'.He has re-released the bestselling holistic guide to health, wealth and happiness 'The 10-Minute Miracle'.He also writes for young adults and children. The first of his scientific/magical, dystopian trilogy 'The Kingdoms Of Time And Space' has been published' 'Kingdom Of The Nanosaurs' and also the first in a chapter book series for 7-10 year olds 'The Weather Kids And The Rainbow Superhighway'.David Callinan is Anglo-Irish, born into a family from Limerick in the west of Ireland who grew up in the UK. After busking all over Europe he rediscovered Irish music and formed The Spalpeens playing all over the UK, Europe and Ireland touring with The Dubliners, Sweeney's Men, The Chieftains and many others.He appeared in films such as The Lion In Winter (Peter O'Toole, Katherine Hepburn) and Sinful Davey (John Hurt) and scores of television advertisements (was even directed by the late, great John Huston).Later, he formed Urban Clearway, touring and performing with artists such as Elton John, Billy Connolly, Rod Stewart and Long John Baldry.He co-wrote a Celtic rock opera for the Edinburgh Festival. 'Pucka-Ri' starred a young Pierce Brosnan and became one of the hits of the Fringe, before transferring to the Arts Theatre in London.Latterly, an earlier spacey, folk-rock album, 'Freedom's Lament', recorded by Callinan-Flynn, has emerged as a highly sought after title on the Internet - and new wave Irish chanteur Sean Tyrrell has recorded a number of his songs on recent albums.All David's books are available via his website as are downloads of recent music tracks and earlier, 60s, material.Print this

The tall, friendly PR lady who worked for the International Climate Change Institute gazed at the six children slouching around the futuristic reception area and sighed.

What were their parents thinking of bringing them here?

The adults were scientists from different parts of the world attending an important international conference and they had brought their kids along for the ride.

She knew that the families were planning to have various holidays once the conference was over in a couple of days. Meanwhile, she had to keep the kids amused somehow.

Some of them were slyly watching each other while pretending to look around the huge entrance space of glass and steel. Others were sending texts madly, eyes glued to their mobile cell phones. The PR lady walked over to them with a big smile.

Okay, you guys, she said cheerily. Your parents are going to be busy for the rest of the day. So we need to find things for you to do. How many of you are interested in climate change?

The Russian girl and the Chinese boy put up their hands. The other four stared at her with bored expressions.

The PR lady tried harder. Why don’t we break the ice? How about you introduce yourselves and then I’ll tell you all about the amazing science we have going on here.

The children seemed aghast at this idea and looked at each other not wanting to be the first to speak.

Come on, kids, you do want to find out how you can save the planet, don’t you?

This seemed to work. One of the boys, a fair-haired lad, finally spoke. G’day, I’m Tommy and I’m from Sydney, Australia. I didn’t really want to come. I could be skin surfing right now. Okay?

A pale-faced blonde girl, who was tall and athletic looking, was next. I’m Sofia and I am from Moscow. I wanted to come. I am interested in my mother’s research.

Hi, I’m Linzi and I live in New York, announced a freckly girl with a funny grin. "I’m kinda interested, you know. I think we should all recycle and I don’t want to see animals being hurt and stuff. So, I’m happy to have a look around. My dad’s promised we can go to
