Step 1 - Having a Reason
So you’ve finally asked the big question, and if you’re reading this, she probably said yes. Now you may think the hard part is over, but unfortunately I’m here to tell you that it was probably the easiest part about getting her to the altar. If not the easiest part, than definitely the least frustrating part. I waited until later in life to get married, or at least later than most of my friends did. I guess the old adage is true, that you’ll know when you meet the right girl. Either way, getting married later provided a lot of positives for me, one being I got to see all the things I did, and didn’t, want at my wedding that my friends and family had, or didn’t have. Secondly, it provided me with the financial wherewithal to be able to fund the wedding I wanted, versus the wedding I could afford. My fiancée and I were married in early October, but spent a full year planning our day.
What I’ve found is that everybody thinks their wedding will be the easiest or best planned or their fiancée won’t turn into a crazed maniac, but in reality, all weddings end up pretty much the same. Pressed for time, too many details, and a crazed fiancée finding fault in everything everybody does, groom included. Ultimately it’s all worth it, otherwise why ask in the first place, but this guide will help prepare you for the rollercoaster you have just hopped on. It won’t make things better, but it can help you be ready for the eventualities that all grooms face so you can go into it with your eyes open. Enjoy the read, try to pay attention when she is describing the differences between red, scarlet and claret, but most importantly have fun, because at the end of the day, the wedding day is all about
