About this ebook
An essential guide to honey bees: their biology, cultural history, honey production, and the current bee crisis. Learn the secrets of the bee dance and all about the honey bee's remarkable intelligence. Get to know the bee family (workers, drones and a queen bee), their life cycle and how bees make honey in the hive. Read about our 20,000 year partnership with bees and why they’re also part of our mythology and language. You’ll learn why bees are disappearing around the world, how you can help, and even how to reduce the likelihood of stings.
This book is aimed at all ages and is packed with fascinating information, up-to-date research, and a dash of humor. Three-quarters of the world’s most important food crops need bee pollination so it’s vital that we find a new respect for this surprising insect. The author, Raymond Huber, has a beehive, writes novels and picture books, is a teacher and a science graduate, and lives in New Zealand. The Honey Bees book includes several pages of photos.
