Free Yourself From Stress - Free Yourself

    Introduction

This is where you will be able to question whether the stress you are currently suffering actually needs to be a part of your life, or not. You will discover different types of stress and really be able to define what stress is to you.

    Step 1: Know the Effects

This is the first of four steps you will need to follow to get to that de-stressed, happier person you want to be. We detail for you the actual effects too much stress can have on your body (all the way to your organs and cells), as well as the effect on your social life and interactions with others.

    Step 2: Evaluation

This essential step gets you to actually evaluate different areas of your life and determine why you are stressed, how you react to certain stresses, where you hold your tension and what things you crave when you are stressed.

    Step 3: Action Plan

By this stage you have all the information; it is now time to put it into action. These simple steps will make implementing a stress-management plan seem so easy, you will wonder why you had not done it earlier!

Step 4: How to Keep on Track

This is not a two week phase, this is a lifestyle. This section ensures you are equipped with the right tools and techniques to make sure you attain and maintain that healthy, balanced lifestyle you want.

    Conclusion

This re-cap will help you to summarise the main points and keep focus on what is important to you. Once you finish reading this ebook you are not at the end, you are at the beginning of a new you!

Within each section there are chapters that help to break down the topic for you so that it is easier to keep focused. This also assists you later on if you want to come back to a particular area, you will not have to read the whole section, instead you can just pin-point the specific chapter.

You will receive exercise tips and techniques to leave you feeling energised. We have nutritional tips to ensure you are fuelled and ready to go each day, and techniques to ensure you are well rested and rejuvenated on a regular basis.

To help you along the way we also have worksheets. These are free for you to download and are located on our website: www.freeyourselfebooks.com. They are a workable document so you have an option to either print them or to just download them and type into them. We cue you throughout the ebook as to when you will need them, but note that we have also designed the ebook so you can read through and do the worksheets at the end; it is completely up to you!

Now it is time to get started, enjoy the journey to becoming the less stressed, more balanced person you want to be!

Chapter 1: Freedom from Stress - Illusion or Reality?

Imagine a life that has less frustration, anxiety and exhaustion. Now imagine a life where you feel energised, motivated and happy whilst having a good work-life balance and plenty of time for friends and family. Sound unrealistic? By prioritising yourself you are not only going to achieve this less stressed lifestyle, you will also reduce the short-term side-effects of too much stress, whilst minimising your risk of developing a lifestyle disease.

The catch? You need to make this happen. You have chosen to read this ebook for a reason. It may be that you are very stressed, that you cannot find balance in your life or that you are looking for a solution to your problems. We have the answers for you. Just writing them down is not going to make a difference; you need to put them into action.

This lifestyle that you want can be a reality, but it will take some planning and strategic implementation. We know that you can do it. We have structured this ebook so that it is simple for you to put into practice. First you will need to think about the question we are about to ask you. It is a very simple question, and one that if you ask someone else you would assume they could give you the answer directly. Despite its simplicity, this question may leave you in the lurch. You may need to step back and actually evaluate yourself and your priorities.

Although it might seem very general, our question to you is 'What Do You Want Your Life to Be Like?'

Firstly you may instantly answer that you want the exact polar opposite to what you have now, thinking that if you are miserable now, being the complete opposite has to be wonderful! Is this true though? Do you really want to change everything?

By reducing the amount of stress in your life you will be happier. For you, is this happiness the amount of money you have, the amount of hours you work or is it something else? People are very good at analysing what they do not have, and how much better life would be if they had more. Sometimes more is not the answer.

If you had all the money in the world, and did not really have to work, do you believe that you would be truly happy? Or would you agree, without trying to sound too cliche; the best things in life are free?

To make your life exactly what you want it to be, without all those horrible stressors, we need to first get an idea of what it is you want. What are the five most important things to you? Spending quality time with family and friends may be on the top of your list. These moments of laughter and fond memories are enjoyable to think about. We go through the good and the bad with each other and by doing so appreciate the good so much more.

We all experience stressful events in our life; that is life! There is nothing we can do about losing a loved one, losing a job, being involved in an accident, losing money or ending a relationship with someone you love. The way in which you deal with the stress from each of these events is what has a significant effect on your health. This chronic stress is not helping you achieve optimal health, it is steering you in the opposite direction.

This ebook will help you identify what is stressing you, assist in evaluating your responses and give you support and guidance to implement new strategies to get you closer to your goal of minimising stress. Do not allow this freedom to be an illusion, make it a reality!

    Chapter 2: What is Stress?

The term stress, although used quite commonly, is actually quite difficult to define. Typically it is described as a negative concept that can affect a person's mental and physical well-being. If you looked at the Oxford Dictionary you would find the definition of stress to be: 'A state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or demanding circumstances'.

But what actually defines stress? Stress can be a cause, it can also be an effect and sometimes it can be a mixture of the two. Stress is highly subjective and has a different definition for each individual. Sometimes we over react to a given situation and describe our feelings as being 'stressed out' or 'suffering from stress' whereas the same situation would not bother someone else.

The biological definition of stress refers to homeostasis, the internal balance of the body. This 'steady state' of our body's internal mechanisms (including hormones, blood volume, blood sugar levels and more) is closer to an ideal than a constant achievable state. There is always change that our body's internal systems need to adapt to, as there are changes that we need to adapt to.

Although it is difficult to define stress itself, we can describe our feelings or reactions to stress such as; pressure, anxiety, strain, being overwhelmed, insecure, nervous or exhausted. We can also define our stressors, such as; major events, particular situations or daily hassles. It is not actually these stressors that cause us 'stress', it is our perception of how we will be able to cope.

No matter what is causing you stress, you can learn to know when you are stressed and how you can adapt your reaction to reduce the negative effects this
