Be Your Child's Maths Tutor Book 3: Shape, Space and Measure.

About this ebook
This book has been written by an experienced maths tutor who has seen children make significant progress using the lesson plans in this book. In busy classrooms children can sometimes be scared to ask questions when they don't understand something and sometimes it is difficult for them to catch up with a maths unit once the teacher has moved onto the next one.
This book has been designed to help parents and carers tutor their children, to help improve their confidence and stop them falling behind with their maths. Based on the government's one-to-one tuition programme, this book contains fourteen one-hour lesson plans, which covers the General Number unit for Key Stage 3 children in the UK; however, it will be useful for all children between the ages of 10 to 15. It covers 2D and 3D shapes, circle theory, angles, Pythagoras and common measurements. It has been written in down-to-earth language so even those parents and carers who aren't confident with maths should be able to understand how to teach each lesson with confidence.

About the Author
Angie Fish is a qualified teacher and Early Years professional with over five years’ experience of one to one tuition in maths and English. She is currently helping adults with their literacy, numeracy and ICT skills as a Key Skills Trainer. She has identified the main areas where children have difficulties and has written this series of books so that parents and carers can help children with these common difficulties, so they have more confidence in the classroom and are less likely to fall behind. Adults may also find the books useful to help improve their basic maths skills.
About this eBook
Although the book relates to the Key Stage 3 Curriculum in the UK it can also be adapted for use with other age groups or in different countries, including adults who are studying basic functional skills in numeracy.
The basic rules of maths are the same wherever you are in the world. Each topic area is designed to be taught as a one hour lesson on a one to one basis. It is recommended you start at the beginning so that your child is taught everything they should know in a particular mathematical area. This book is the third book in a series and focuses on the subject area, Shape, space and measure
. It deals with the basics, which some children have struggled to grasp in primary school and moves on to some higher level examples.
If you have already read my first two books, then you should be used to tutoring by now, so feel free to skip this section and go straight onto the lessons. I would; however, like to inform you that, unlike my previous two books, some of the main activity sections rely on you using my recommended internet resources or your child’s text book. This is because of the nature of this subject area, which is mostly picture- based, therefore making it difficult for your child to answer the questions and making it more time-consuming for you, if you have to draw the diagrams on paper for your child.
Using this eBook
I would suggest reading the lesson plan and practising it yourself before you do it with your child. Gather together all the resources you will need. This shows your child you
