      How to Trade Iron Condors for Income - Kirk McFadden

      CHAPTER 1

      I will and do trade Iron Condors, but only under a very specific set of circumstances. Towards the end of this book I lay out the system and ground rules that I follow trading the strategy, which I will do, but only very rarely.

      First, we’ll look at basic iron condors and discuss the features of the trade and point out a few things. Hopefully, by the time you get through the discussion, you will see the pratfalls and danger of the common approach. My goal is to save you money by avoiding the risk, and avoid having you paying someone big money to show you the secret of consistent income by trading iron condors. If I’ve said it once I’ve said it a thousand times; there are no secrets in trading. No one has the secret. There is no such thing as a perfect system.

      I’ve been around the block and have been trading for a long time, off and on, my entire life. You name it, I’ve traded it. I was a Series 7 registered rep and stock broker for a time, and between stints in the military and an extensive flying career, I have watched the markets and traded. Cars, horses, grains, cattle, metals, fish, currencies, stocks, bonds. But I’m not here to toot my own horn or make performance claims. It is my sincere desire to pursue right work and help you negotiate the shark infested waters of the trade by educating you about risk, and helping you negotiate the sea of deceptive flotsam that is the promotional end of the financial services industry.

      Specifically, this book addresses one of the first things you’ll run into in your search for a way to make money online by trading options; the Iron Condor. Service purveyors constantly ply these waters, trolling for newbies. It is a compelling story and a compelling business model. To a man, they are enthusiastic about iron condors and convince a lot of people to try them.

      Once a person actively trades them they will begin to get burned badly, lose money, and will eventually sign up for the monthly advisory service, the monthly tout sheet, racing form, the inside track, call it what you will. Eventually the newbie will
