About this ebook

For years, a dynamic and diverse retinue of writers have been plying their craft on tumblogs, filling the folds of #poetry and #prose with original works which resonate with thousands of readers around the globe. A Literation began with a mission to expose these writers and their community, joining hands with the extant community of photographers and illustrators who infuse Tumblr with their creations. In this issue, 14 artists lend their eyes and voices to an immersive experience that includes works by Liz Massingill, Melissa Acevedo, and Shane Cashman.

Literation Publications

A Literation is a grassroots electronic literary magazine founded by a handful of bloggers who met on Tumblr. The journal is aimed at spotlighting the dynamic and diverse community of writers and artists on Tumblr and to bring them to the attention of not just other Tumblr users, but to all literary channels—both traditional and non-conventional. A Literation hopes to facilitate the continued integration of “Internet Art” into the literary community, while innovating new and provocative forms of literature and providing subscribers and contributors alike an opportunity to participate in what is truly a joint venture between the reader and the writers.

    Letter From The Editor

Read some books. Read some e-books. Read poetry on Tumblr. Read all the poetry you can. Force other people to read poetry by writing it on your face in Sharpie and going out in public. Scream your favorite lines at strangers in Starbucks until they make you leave. Freak people out with poetry. Read poetry written on walls and then write your own there. Read and write poetry. Be a total fucking weirdo.

Cat Leth, in her interview for BREAKINGDOWNTHETWCWALL

    And, lest we forget, publish!

For the staff here at A Literation, this issue is as close to a Sharpie on the face as most of us are likely to get — except for Colin, who’s probably compiling a list of lines to scribble and shout as you read this.

When we set out to reboot this project a little over a month ago, we could have never predicted the depth of love and support
