Eagle's Wings

About this ebook
How do you explain to the old writer or man or woman, that when he was a young man or woman he was just as good a writer or person that he or she is now. What he (generically) was timeless and beautiful and grand and bold, etc. etc., yet it was most appropriate to the audience of that age group as well?
What I have written as an older man may indeed be better crafted, richer in life experience, zest, and power, yet what i was wrote as a young was also full of talent, zest, and power. Yet, more than anything else if was filled with a DESIRE TO KNOW, TO LOVE, TO EMBRACE and EXPERIENCE All of this strange, dynamic, and sometimes subtle world of ours, this THING called Life.
This book was my first, my first bold step onto the planet called Earth. And as such, of course, holds a dear place in my heart. It meant so much to me at the time (1986-1990) that I would have rather wrote in/on it than almost anything else.
And I strongly believe it DOES hold talent, craft, wisdom, poignancy, and joy. It is a Vision of Optimism and Love. The Vision of Optimism and Love, out of which has evolved ALL of my current writing.
I pray you enjoy it.
It really was written for YOU, not in the general, but the Specific.
Peace and Eternal Bliss, Love, and Grace to You and Yours.

I've been writing for a very long time, what seems like my whole life, taking it seriously from the time I was about 11. Now, at 46, I think I may be starting to get the hang of it: Say what you feel, as passionately as you can, but always with an ear turned to those who are listening. Most of my more serious work is done at live performances, which i do totally extemporaneously, channeling the mood of the room as my fingers play on the guitar. You can see some of that if you go to "my" website. (Open Mics Austin is a platform I created to showcase the Spoken Word scene here in Austin, TX. Only a small role in which i play.)As far as I can tell what makes good writing is LOVE. Love ,plainly simply, and with no strings attached.I put these words/books before you, not so much because I want something back from it, because I think and feel like I feel my bones and my soul, if you were to see the world, experience it like it do, for even a brief moment, you would walk away from that happier, more alive, compassionate and in tune with all those around you.Peace, good will, and harmony. Let those be your guiding light.Agape forever,Scott VanyaPublication Credits:Stepping Stones Magazine, The Main Street Rag, www.carcinogenicpoetry.com, Texas Art Initiative, Phoenix New Life Poetry, Walt’s Corner, Manna, Perigee, Chicago Literary Review, Mobius, Cosmic Trend, Pitchfork, Romantics Quarterly, Artisan, Pegasus, The Neovictorian, Red Owl, The Story Teller, The Blind Man's Rainbow, Atlantic Pacific Press

Eagle's Wings - Scott Vanya
Divine Inspiration
Heresy rose above the throng
And peered down into the nothingness
Of evil boiling and regurgitating
Sulfuric fumes which oozed out over the surface.
His static wings, singed and festered,
Dripped puss into the discontented gorges below.
As his gullet opened
His sperpentine tongue belched forth hellfire.
"Oh, ye, righteous heretics
This Mighty's
Usurption of our thrones
An act so foul in its justice
And unreasonable in its logic,
Must be rectified through His meteoric downfall.
Holy ones, we must unite
Under a common goal of truth and repentence.
We must diminish his potency,
By lavishing hordes of discontent
Throughout the land of our sentiment.
We, like the winds of Chaos,
Will bend His power until it snaps
Flinging our worthy souls
Into their righteous heaven.
His limbs
Will be milled and finally scorched by the flames
Of our infernal sanctum.
We have shown the limits of his omnipotence
By our very existence:
For the abscence of hope is far greater retribution
Than the existence of pain.
Our mediocre punishment proves
His weakness is either loss of power
Or impetuous justice
But most probably a melding of the both.
Comrades, the eternity has come!
Now we must, must march on!
Hand in hand with Chaos
Up through the world of Man
And beyond The Empyreum,
We must wrench asunder the firmament
Throughout eternity
Until the wretched infidel
Falls beyond our misbegotten habitat.
Arise embodiments of virtue
We must right this wrong.
We must dethrone the Usurper.
We must punish our Jailor
To arms, Brothers, to arms
The time has come to live up to our creed
and fulfill our destiny!"

Goodbye
Ah, The Fates
With their steadily pumping loom
Pouring out course threads
Of such a short length,
Sharpen your blade!
Take this piece
And make it a clean cut!
I forgive you.

The Glory of the Sea
The city feels cold
And the wind blows over me
The waves tumble in
And I feel.
The trees whisper
And the music plays
I am content
to feel.
Kyrie Elieson
Two moons pass above
One real
The other holy.
The breakers crash
And the mist cools my face.
Yearning to beone
I imagine
I dream
Dreams of the sea
And losing myself.
Moved
by the vastness.
Awe
Uttering nothing
A pause
To enjoy
And live.
The stars twinkle
A signal
And the clouds float by.
The city lights flicker
Calling the waves home
And they gently respond.
Loneliness for a love
Too far away
Dreams unfulfilled.
The call of the whale
Soothes my blood
And I return
to joy.
Fingers cold
Pain insignificant
As I bask in
The Glory of the Sea.
With pen in hand
Ink flows freely
And the moons pulse
To the rhythm of the Sea.
Once, the skyline appears kind
Beautiful
As the sea soothes the bustle.
And I walk on
Writing in the blue flicker
Of the moon.
A rainbow
As a circle
Clasps the moon
Beauty
Fills the sky
My soul applauds.
Waves crash
Continue their path
The Glory of the Sea
Calls my name
And I respond
Love.
And from my memories
Rises
- This is Life -
And the Sea nods.
Horizon surrounds me
And the mist
Enhances my view.
The satsr move
And the wind blows
Stinging my eyes
And I cry.
Pleasure. Bliss!
And I am warm
In the Glory of the Sea.
Orion waves
And I salute the Heavens.
And I return
My soul renewed
And I am content.

And the Night Sky
And in the night sky
The sun of the city
Sets the clouds ablaze.
I shall return
As a choir of angels
Calls my name.
And the moon and sun
Sing in key
And the night sky
Rejoices.

I have returned
I have returned
Abd the Beauty remains.
I feel at home
Amongst the mist
And a pipe blows in my ear.
And I return to years before.
Eons fall away
And I am primordial.
The Beauty remains.
I have returned.
Mother welcomes
And the warm embrace
Calms
All.

Pool of Dreams
Take a dive of the deep end
Enveloped in pools of psychedelia
Colors flow
And tides move by.
Take a dive off the deep end
Bath in the waters of the mind
Thoughts transparent
And the colors fill my eyes.
Take a dive off the deep end
Drenched in this womb of warmth
And the wanes crash
Close your eyes
And let it take you where you will
Meteors whizzing by.
