The Antidotes to Modern Living - Dr X
Author
ALL ABOUT X … and U
The person who wrote this book is an ARSE (Anthropologist Repeatedly Seeking Enlightenment) – which basically means they’re a person interested in other people, and trying to get a bit better at what the world throws at them. Just like you.
X is the factor you want in your life.
X can be found in supermarket queues … just like you.
X marks the spot.
X is where the treasure is.
X is a kiss.
X is the opposite of nought.
X can take an incredible amount of strain … as a bridge to the other side, in great creations, and when the pressure’s on.
X likes being civilised at the welcome desk, then jumping on the hotel bed in comfortable clothes (without harming any hotel beds of course!)
X has so much that X doesn’t always appreciate, but still wants for so much more … just like you.
X actually believes U should be ‘you’ (but it seemed a clever thing to do at the top of this page – and made X feel slightly ‘street’).
X hopes this book will come to mean something to you … and plenty more just like you.
"Half of nothing is
nothing – but half
of Something is Something."

"Insanity is doing the same
thing over and over again
and expecting different results."
–Albert Einstein
"If you are going through hell,
keep going."
–Sir Winston Churchill
"You must be the change you
want to see in the world."
–Mahatma Gandhi
HERE, NOW & NEXT
In all that I am,
And all I can be,
Make no harm in this place,
Start the mantra with me.
OR TO PUT THAT ANOTHER WAY –
IT’S ALL ABOUT YOU
This book is about you,
Your own DNA,
What makes you so special,
Let’s keep it that way.
It’s time to begin,
To FIND A NEW STAGE,
IT’S ACTUALLY QUITE EASY …
GO ON …
Turn the page …
• … YOU CAN TURN A NEW PAGE RIGHT HERE
COMPUTERS ARE SUPER …
BUT THEY CAN’T PICK THEIR NOSES
Computers are super,
But they can’t pick their noses,
Or dig in the garden,
While the wife points and hoses.
The world says I should,
Use nothing else,
But what about hugs,
And who’ll fix the shelf?
When it comes to the big stuff,
Computers are talk,
While life, love ’n memories,
Happen out on a walk.
FEAR OF FAILURE
What will they think,
What will they say,
Will they make me look stupid,
For doing it this way?
Perhaps I should not,
Even begin,
To take on my Grand Plan,
For the threat of the din.
But how sad would it be,
To surrender to fear,
To not be, what I might be,
And cherish so dear.
So to hell with the chatter,
Let the sideliners talk,
I’ll give it a go!
And walk my own walk.
YOU CAN’T PARK HERE
"You can’t park here,
What on earth are you thinking?"
Begone … over there,
The shame! Start your slinking!
So I went over there,
But, alas, found more dread,
"You’ll have to keep moving,
Your ticket is red."
Through the blues and the yellows,
Each section I plied,
