      Totally in love with this series! Love how Elle Kennedy handled difficult topics. They were part of the hero and heroines story but they weren’t the thing that defined them. And even if there wasn’t “justice” in the traditional sense the real justice was then being able to be happy together despite having bad things happen in the past.

      I love the romance and Garrett is male lead goals and Hannah is so lovable but overall the writing drips with heteronormativity and strict gender roles that play into stereotypes—really took me out of enjoying their love.

      I decided to read this book after seeing many bookstagram accounts recommending it. I knew from the start that it was gonna have some explicit scenes, and while they're not something I avoid, I don't actively seek them out either. Still, I like reading them when they're done right, and while the ones in this book were well-written, for some reason they just didn't do it for me. I couldn't feel any "heat" from those scenes, not like how I did with many previous books. Not only that, I also struggled to feel the chemistry of the main couple for a larger part of the book. It was as if they were trying to convince me about their feelings for the other person, but I just could not believe them. It wasn't until nearing the end of the book where I could convince myself a little that they cared for each other. The only reason why I'm giving this book 3 stars is because I did like the author's style of writing. I still plan to check out her other books and hope that history won't repeat itself.

      Good read. Laughed out loud a number of times. Fun, witty language, often spot on to the way you’d silently phrase out thoughts within your brain, if that makes sense. Makes you feel right at home with these likable personalities. Great love chemistry mixed with other more serious topics as the story unfolds.
