About this ebook

Religion & Spirituality - A Conversation with God is a
religious book about a mythical conversation between
the author and the Master of the Universe. It is not
a real conversation but it sure sounds like it is real
because the questions that are put forth are real and
so are the religious answers. It tackles some big
issues within and without the church and the reader
goes away feeling satisfied that he/she has learned
something of consequential value. It is not a book
on spiritualism and in fact it is a book of spirituality
vs religion. It delineates what are the differences in
religions and speaks about religion spirituality. If
you have a desire to better understand God’s will in
your life and your position amongst the saints, you
should read this book and pass it on to all believers
and unbelievers as an evangelical tool.

A Conversation with God - Harry Jay

Forward – An Imaginary Conversation with God

It may not be necessary but I want to emphasize that the following is an imaginary conversation with God.  I did not have an epiphany or a Christophany of any kind.

Also I am nothing special; God does not love me more than any other person.  I find it necessary to say these things because of some of the comments I have received from my readers.  This book is not about me; it is about God!

At the ripe old age of 60, I look back on my life and relationship with God and see that all the questions I ever had He answered.  Not within the time frame of my own impatience, but He did answer my prayers and questions.

I was raised a Christian and was saved at the age of 10 but upon graduation from college I went into the world.  The world was enticing and gradually I left my relationship with God to seek my worldly rewards.  God gave me over to my lusts but he never deserted me and in the fullness of time he grabbed me and brought me into the darkness.  It was in the darkness, in the counsel of my fears and apprehension, that God found me once again and I began to work out my own salvation.

I was one of those characters that wanted a savior but not a Master; I went kicking, biting and scratching into Christianity.  But no one snatches God’s children from His hand and because of the faith and hope God placed in my heart, I once again walked into the Light and out of darkness.

This book is about God and His infinite grace and mercy.  It is my hope that all who read it will see the Light and walk into his loving grace and mercy too.

God’s Poster Boy of Grace…Dr. Harry Jay

Introduction – Lord, what should I think about?

In the year of our Lord 2012, I sat pondering questions that caused me to think about God and His relationship to the world.  I asked God to reveal Himself and speak to me about His revealed plan through His Son Jesus Christ.  So I began, Lord, what should I think about?  And he said…

Finally, my brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are right, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8

In the beginning….man’s thought were God-centered.  Adam and Eve walked with God in the Garden and commune with God.

Then sin entered the world and Adam and Eve became detached from God.  Their thoughts wandered away from God.  They had chosen the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

The battle began and will end in the mind; this is where sin resides and manifests itself and this is where sin must be attacked.

"And even as they did not think fit to have God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do the things not right, being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; being full of envy, murder, quarrels, deceit, evil habits, becoming whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, insolent, proud, braggarts, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, perfidious, without natural affection, unforgiving, unmerciful; who, knowing the righteous order of God, that those practicing such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but have pleasure in those practicing them .  Romans 1: 28-32

    Your thoughts are YOU!

As a behavioral scientist I have studied the mechanism of the mind and have written about it extensively in my books.  We know very little about the human mind but we do know the mechanism it uses to reach action/behavior/conduct.

The subconscious mind holds your belief systems.  You have thousands upon thousands of belief systems residing in your subconscious mind layered like the skin of an onion.

These belief systems are acted upon by THOUGHT.  Your thought function relies on your intellect both experiential and empirical as well as your desires, emotions and will (DEW).

Belief Systems plus thought equals Action/Behavior/conduct!

Belief systems are important!  Thoughts are important!  They are equally important because they define who you are.

This is how Oswald Chambers put it:

We are what we are in the dark; all the rest is reputation.  What God looks at is what we are in the dark-the imaginations of our minds; the thoughts of our heart; the habits of our bodies, these are the things that mark us in God’s sight.

Those who use their intellects are called visionaries.  Those who constantly stay within the DEW are dreamers.

So what do we think about?

And Jehovah saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. Genesis 6:5

The human mind gravitates to the DEW and will spin into depravity if not checked by the law, parents, our friends, and our conscience.

"But their thoughts were blinded; for until the present the same veil remains on the reading of the old covenant, not taken away. But this veil has been done away in Christ. But until this day, when Moses is read, the veil is on their heart. But whenever it turns to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. And the Lord is that Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is , there is liberty. But we all, with our face having been unveiled, having beheld the glory of the Lord as in a mirror, are being changed into the same image from glory to glory,
