Introduction
For the better part of 31 years I’ve spent my life in and around Construction Management and Project Management. During that time I had the opportunity to work with some truly talented people. I worked my way up in a Union environment that typically thwarted self-advancement. That 18 year journey from 1983 through 2000 saw me go from an apprentice pipefitter to a foreman, general foreman and eventually a superintendent. During this time I was also running a successful real-estate development company. These separate concurrent paths prepared me for future career challenges.
For the purposes of this White Paper we’ll be looking at two separate but equal Business Model Defects. They are the bloated buracracy that is your corporate Human Resources division and your Engineering Division and management thereof.
