About this ebook

After Emmy was able to help Lucy find out who killed Angeline, she thought that she could finally go back to living her regular life.

But she was wrong.

Because Lucy showed herself up to her again, and told her that there’s a lot that still needs to be figured out: Lucy asked Emmy to help her find out who her killer was, because she now believes that everything she had in mind before was wrong.

All she knows now is that after the tea party, and while they were in her friend Libby’s house, she died. And she doesn’t know who her real killer is.

And so Emmy takes on the biggest challenge she’s ever encountered yet—helping a ghost figure out the truth about the night she was killed.

She has to dive back into the past so that the present could finally be peaceful—and so they can all look forward to the future.

What she didn’t know was that the truth could be something so scary—so scary that it might ruin everything.

What will Emmy find out and who really killed Lucy?

    CHAPTER 1

    THE TEA PARTY

It was a beautiful, sun-shiny day at the Sky Valley Clubhouse. Women were dressed in colorful frocks and pearls, men donned suits as if they’re from some other era.

Looking good, Angeline. Don Darmer told Angeline, who was then eating a piece of mango macaroon. Don was her friend, Libby’s boyfriend at that time. He was a suave guy who knew that his good looks meant a lot—and could drive him to great success.

Thanks, Don. Angeline said. Where’s Libby?

    Oh, she’s just—

I’m here. Libby said giddily. She seemed drunk, like someone just spiked her tea. This tea is gooooooood. She hiccupped.

Are you drunk? Angeline asked. Her brunette locks held up by flowers in her hair. Libs, this isn’t the place for that.

Of course this isn’t the place for that. Bree said sarcastically. You’re such a prude, Angeline.

And apparently, you’re drunk, too. Angeline rolled her eyes. Can’t you at least respect this event? Our mom is part of the committee.

Oh believe me, Anj, she’d also be drinking once she gets home. Why not start for her now?

You are so funny, Harper, Lucy then said as she was walking towards the group. She was trying not to trip in her heavy yellow dress that was full of ribbons and feathers. She was walking with Harper and Laurel, two of their friends who have been together since the last prom. This surprised them all as Laurel has always been quiet and focused on her studies, while Harper has always been the easy-go-lucky guy, just like the rest of his friends. Isn’t he super funny? Lucy continued.

Look who’s so wasted! Bree laughed. I didn’t know you had it in you, Luce.

Are you kidding me, Bree? Lucy said. You spiked my tea!

    You allowed me to!

Where’s Tyler, by the way? Bree asked. She was now worried because it’s been a couple of minutes since she last saw Tyler.

I have no idea. Lucy answered. He’s probably kissing one of his girls. She hiccupped.

    Shut Up. Bree seethed.

Just then, Tyler went up to the group, a weird smile on his face. Hi, guys. He said as he tousled his hair. Bree, can we talk?

Now? Bree said. Honey, I’m spiked. Can we do it later, then?

    But—

She’s right, Laurel said. You can’t possibly talk to Bree when she’s not in the right state of mind.

Why are you being so harsh? Bree asked.

I was only trying to help. Laurel answered. Anyway, it’s getting late. Are we still on for the sleepover?

Obviously. Libby answered. Let Don drive us home. The rest of you guys can go. Sorry, losers. She winked and they made the long walk towards Don’s van that will then take them to Libby’s house in Cherry Street.

    ***

You know, sometimes I wonder why Lucy here never gets a boyfriend. Bree said as she was sitting down on one of the couches in Libby’s house. It was one of the biggest houses in town, so they almost always hold their sleepovers there. Libby’s feet were propped on the table in front of her, and she was drinking some chardonnay. I think no one wants her. She mocked. Poor little sweet Lucy, always such a loser.

What is wrong with you, Bree? Lucy asked, drinking some more of the spiked tea from earlier. Why do you always have to hate on me like that? I never did anything wrong to you. And in case you’ve forgotten, my parents gave you a home.

You don’t have to remind me. Bree said. You’re still a loser.

A flirt and a loser. Libby said. I mean, she was obviously flirting with Harper earlier. Right, Laurel?

All you girls are drunk. Laurel replied and drank some water. Harper loves me, I’m not jealous.

Touché. Bree raised an eyebrow and drank some more chardonnay. "And what about little Miss Angeline here? Don
