Dress
Who could resist this adorable dressed bunny? She is so cuddly and a small child would love her at once. Very easily and quickly knitted in garter stitch throughout.
Dressed Bunny
Materials: 3 2-oz. hanks Patons Big Ben Knitting in Oystershell 2040. Of Patons Double Quick Knitting, 2 ozs. Gay Turquoise 110 and 1 oz. Radiant Pink 182. Scraps of Black, Royal and White 3- or 4-ply wool for features. A pair each No. 8 and No. 11 Queen Bee
needles. Kapok for stuffing.
Measurements: Height to tip of ears, 12 1/2 ins.
N.B.—Bunny is worked throughout on No. 8 needles and garter-stitch, i.e. every row knit. When making up join all seams on right side.
O. = Oystershell. B. = Gay Turquoise. P. = Radiant Pink.
Body: With O. wool, cast on 11 sts. NEXT ROW: knit. NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. Rep. these 2 rows once more. Knit 6 rows. NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. Knit 11 rows. NEXT ROW: k. 2 tog., k. to last 2 sts., k. 2 tog. Knit 3 rows. Decrease 1 st. at each end of next 3 rows. Cast off (cast-off edge is neck edge). Make another piece the same.
Base: With O. wool, cast on 5. NEXT ROW: knit. NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. Rep. the last 2 rows once more. Knit 2 rows. NEXT ROW: k. 2 tog., k. to last 2 sts., k. 2 tog. NEXT ROW: knit. Rep. the last 2 rows once more. Cast off. Join sides of body, then insert base to cast-on edge of body. Stuff firmly and gather up neck opening.
Front Legs: * With O. wool, cast on 11 sts. Knit 2 rows. NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. Knit 4 rows. NEXT ROW: k. 2 tog., k. to last 2 sts., k. 2 tog. Knit 7 rows *. Decrease 1 st. at each end of next 2 rows. Cast off. Make 3 more pieces the same.
Join each pair leaving cast-off edges open. Stuff firmly and sew up opening, then join this end to body. Run a gathering thread round wrists, then mark claws with black straight-stitches.
Back Legs: Work as for front legs from * to *. Knit 5 rows. Decrease 1 st. at each end of next 2 rows. Cast off. Make 3 more pieces the same. Stuff and make up as for front legs and sew to body. please turn to page 34
Tail: With O. wool, cast on 5 sts. Knit 1 row. Increase 1 st. at each end of next 3 rows. Knit 6 rows. Decrease 1 st. at each end of next 3 rows. Cast off. Make another piece the same. Join halves together leaving an opening for stuffing. Stuff and sew up opening. Join to body.
Head: With O. wool, cast on 11 sts. Knit 6 rows. * NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to end. NEXT ROW: k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. NEXT ROW: k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch *.

Make another piece the same. Join halves together leaving cast-on edges open. Stuff firmly, shaping dome of head as shown in photograph. Gather up opening slightly, then sew open end firmly round top of body.
Features: Nose, black satin-stitch; mouth, black vertical and horizontal straight-stitches; whiskers, long black straight-stitches; eyes, white, Royal and black satin-stitch, outlined black straight-stitches; lashes, 4 vertical straight-stitches in black; eyebrows, black straight-stitches.
Ears: With O. wool, cast on 3. Knit 3 rows. NEXT ROW: k. twice in 1st st., k. to last stitch, k. twice in last stitch. Rep. these 4 rows until there are 15 sts. Knit 12 rows. NEXT ROW: k. 2 tog., k. to last 2 sts., k. 2 tog. Knit 1 row NEXT ROW: k. 2 tog., k. to last 2 sts., k. 2 tog. Cast off. Make another piece the same.
