    Introduction

    My experience teaching online through video courses did not start until mid-2013. You see, I am not the kind of person who likes having my picture taken, let alone being filmed for a short video. And I really hate the sound of my own voice on recordings. Unfortunately, I let this hold me back for far too long.

    Hopefully, you will not let this type of negative thinking hold you back from teaching online. Once I got started, it actually was not that bad. I learned that not only do you not have to actually appear in the videos for your online courses, but it is really not terrible in the end if you do record yourself.

    Plus, you can make a lot money helping other people learn the things that you are already knowledgeable about.

    Whether you are just looking for ways to make a little extra income on the side, or a way to replace your income, teaching online is a great way to meet those income goals. And the best part?

    NO TEACHING DEGREE REQUIRED.

    That's right. You do not need a college degree of any kind to make video courses that you sell online.

    Sure, if you have a teaching degree then you can do legit online teaching through colleges that hire adjunct faculty to teach online courses. That is a great way to get paid to teach if you have a teaching degree, but it is not something that I have experience with or something that will be covered in this book.

    I started creating video courses and teaching online because I was looking for a fun way to make money. And, it just so happens that you can make a lot of money teaching online like this. I am talking about full-time job income levels. And if you want to be nomadic and do a lot of traveling (like me) then this is one of those things that you can do from anywhere in the world.

    Virtually anyone can do this, which is one of the great things about it. All you need is a little equipment and some knowledge that you want to share. You may even already own everything that you need to make the videos!

    Sure, it helps if you come across as personable on your videos, but even if you don't there is still money to be made if you are good at delivering information in a way that people can understand it and take action using only the instructions given by you.

    So, start thinking about that all the things that you know a decent amount about because they just might be the ticket to replacing your cubicle income.

    CHAPTER ONE

    Why Teach Online Video Courses

    Reasons To Give It A Shot

    I have already told you why I waited so long to start creating video courses, but let me share with you why I wanted to do them in the first place. There are actually a few different reasons, some of which may also be your motivators.

    Helping Other People

    If you had told me in high school that one day I would find helping people to be highly rewarding, then I probably would have laughed in your face and called you something rude. Fortunately, most of us grow out of being annoying teenagers and evolve into pretty decent adults. The main reason that I started sharing my knowledge on earn an income outside of a cubicle was to pay it forward.

    I regularly come across people who are shocked that my lifestyle is not supported by a cubicle job. That shock is almost always followed by a statement such as I wish I knew how to do that. So, I started sharing my knowledge, primarily in the form of blog posts, articles and books.

    However, some people learn better via audio or video. Knowing this, I realized that I was not helping as many people as I could by avoiding video courses over something as silly as hating the sound of my voice or appearing on video.

    I have no doubt that you have some knowledge about something that other people could benefit from with your video courses. It could be something as simple as how to can vegetables from your garden or something a bit more specialized like creating a php-based website from scratch.

    Diversifying Income Sources

    For me, I never like to get most of my income from a single source because that is just a plan for disaster. And since I earn all of my income online, this is potentially an even bigger recipe for disaster. So, I like to continually add new income streams so that if one of those streams dries up,
