Guide to Training within Hospitality covers the gamut of training from designing to planning, and delivery of training for hospitality jobs. The manual follows a recommended model for skills training based on Canadian and American practices. It covers the essentials of training, knowledge, skills and attitudes and adult learning principles. The focus however is on applying the 4-Step Training method to training a variety of hospitality jobs with tips and samples.
The guide has been updated to incorporate online and remote training facilitation. With the impact of the pandemic on face to face, physical learning, use of training technology has become more popular and widespread. The updates provides pointers on the use of technology where physical interaction may be restricted.
The train the trainer manual is meant to be a useful training tool for employers, managers and trainers in smaller hospitality operations where training resources could be very limited. Be it a little inn or a restaurant, an upscale boutique hotel or a diner, this manual serves as a do it yourself kit to getting the most learning out of the employees.

For this manual, the author drew from experience working with independent tourism and hospitality organizations, and S.M.E.s in Bolivia, Columbia, Honduras, Jamaica, Philippines, Russia and Ukraine. The main resources used by the author are listed in the Training Reference section of the manual.
The manual has been updated to give consideration to the need for virtual and online training due to the pandemic. The manual provides pointers on the use of technology in training with limited or no interaction between participants.
