About this ebook
In 1930s Paris, the Butcher of the Dances is on the prowl for young, loose women, and local dominatrix Agatha suddenly turns up dead. Everyone assumes it was suicide, but her sister Blanche is convinced that the Butcher is responsible. She decides to take matters into her own hands, and in her pursuit, she ends up hired into a luxury house of call-girls. She soon becomes adept at certain practices, but she does not lose sight of her ultimate goal—to find her sister's killer. A suspenseful spicy tale as only the French could so lightly get away with, this work is deceptive in its depth and realism.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A mystery set in a Paris brothel. Blanche is a courageous heroine with a mission to find her sister's killer.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Delightful little romp with a naughty touch and perfectly-suited artwork.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5The 1st and 2nd chapters were great. Love the characters. For me the solution to the mystery was unfortunately a bit unsatisfying. The 3rd chapter happens after the mystery was solved, and for me it took a huge descent. The heroine was met with continuous problems which are not quite related to the past mystery, and from there it got pretty confusing to me. There is one terrible stuff that happened near the end, though it's realistic considering the time period. (spoiler/TW: an attempt to cure someone's sexuality through surgery)
But overall, I liked the premise, setting, the lineup of equally mysterious characters, and the main mystery of this graphic novel. Good work by Huber and Kerascoet. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5An engaging story told in an exotic locale portrayed in sometimes strikingly beautiful images.
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I don't really agree with either of the two previous reviews. First, I have trouble seeing this graphic novel as a 'delightful little romp' considering it's about catching a serial killer and takes place in a brothel with all the sordidness that entails. Second, I can't help but think if one is 'alienated' by the sexual content, then one probably shouldn't pick up a graphic novel set in a bordello. My take is that this was a very well done exploration of the dark areas early 20th century Paris. I thought the art work was very well done and appropriate to the story. The story itself, I thought, was rather fascinating and very dark. It is not a typical mystery/thriller with everyone but the murdered living happily ever after. The characters are well outside of main-stream morality, which also makes them interesting. The story is a little melodramatic perhaps, but that seems perfectly appropriate to the time, setting, and story. I certainly don't feel the characters or story were 'commonplace'.I think this is highly recommended to those who like noir, graphic novels, and a little risquee-ness.
