About this ebook

After a tumultuous career as a criminal defense attorney, Ellery Durand enjoys life without tales of drugs, death, and double-crossing. Until she wakes up one morning to find her bank accounts frozen, her face on the front page, and the peace she’s come to treasure shattered in the wake of an FBI investigation. Can she convince the agent in charge to trust her? Can she trust the feelings that grow between them?

After years investigating heinous crimes, FBI Behavioral Analyst Sarah Flores welcomes a transfer to white-collar crime and the chance to have a life of her own. Her relief is short-lived when her first case involves a terrorist plot, and all signs indicate the terrorists’ attorney constructed the framework of their evil conspiracy. Attracted to Ellery from the start, can she trust her instincts to lead her to the truth or will their attraction cast doubt on everything she holds dear?

Another Carsen Taite novel that kept me on the edge of my seat. Although parts of it were hard for me to read because of their topic. Well written, but they also hit a nerve too.The story started with Ellery, a former Defense Attorney, and Sarah, a white collar newly in the fraud division FBI agent. They meet a couple of times, and then Ellery's entire life gets thrown into the dryer on super spin. She comes under investigation because Homeland Security seems to think that she had something to do with a terrorist bomb that went off.Sarah isn't directly in the investigation, but she lends a semi-unofficial hand. And Ellery does quite a bit of her own sorta investigating as well to try and save herself. It was an interesting plot with lots of mystery and a bit of thriller as well. The characters were great. From the Main Characters of Ellery and Sarah, to the secondary characters like Danny the prosecutor and her wife Ellen. They all jumped off the page.It was just plain awesome and definitely a favorite read.I got this advanced galley through Netgalley on behalf of Bold Strokes Books.
