Lights in the Darkness is a collection of short fiction stories about overcoming some of the various trials and tribulations that some will face in life. Vendange is a collection of short stories about my time in the Haut-Medoc, France making the grape harvest during the years 1979-1986. It was a time of great change when the great chateaux stopped employing hundreds of itinerant workers to using modern harvesting machines. One chateau moved from employing 350 grape pickers in 1979 to 12 people in 1980. Only the top chateaux still pick by hand to maintain the quality of their wine. The experiences are moving, informative and funny.

Within the confines of a highly secured area, a sniper kills the state senator.  The police apprehend the suspect in under three minutes.  Successful in his devious plan to hide the rifle; the killer waited on a bench, and showed no sign of fleeing.  An extended search by the FBI failed to locate the murder weapon.  With no evidence to hold him, the sniper walked.  The case remained unsolved for years.

We often don't marry the people we expect. Many of us make GRAVE mistakes which we regret forever after. But some, thanks to God and all the angels in heaven, meet someone - often by mistake - who becomes the cetre hold of our lives from then on...if we are lucky. This story tells such a narrative. A young college guy out in his wayward ways almost gets arrested in a foreign country as he smuggles goods to sell in college. Many such young men get lost that way but for this guy, he is lucky to be saved by a stranger - a stranger who, we later realize, becomes his beloved years many years later, and the mother to his two lovely daughters.
