About This Book
All the screenshots in this book were taken on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet. This 10 inch tablet offers a large enough work area to comfortably use the S-pen while being lightweight and convenient to carry around. For best results when writing with the S-pen, I prefer to hold the tablet with the menu/home/back buttons on either the top position (i.e. upside down when in portrait mode) or in the left position (when in landscape mode) so that the buttons are not hit by accident.
LectureNotes
LectureNotes is a very popular note-taking app for Galaxy Note devices. The app is built around a powerful rich notebook metaphor which can contain slides
with text & hand-drawn content, and even audio and video recordings in the notebook. The notebook content can be exported to PDF, audio formats, and video formats.
While the export options are welcome, the real value of this app is in providing a reliable store for your notes. The rich notebook concept encourages you to create a topic-specific notebook and regularly add sketches, text, audio and video content as you research the topic. What's cool is that you can view all the audio & video recordings in the notebook as a list which is convenient for playback.
The LectureNotes user interface is highly customizable including the pen toolbox
, the toolbar
