The second section focuses on biochemical pharmacology of the lung. Concerns include pulmonary drug-metabolizing enzymes; carrier for oxygen and carbon monoxide in the lung; and metabolism of drugs administered by aerosol. The last section looks at the handling of bioactive substances by the lung. Covered areas include the pharmacokinetic function of the lung; biosynthesis and metabolism of prostaglandins in the lung; and importance and nature of the mechanism of inactivation of prostaglandins in the lung. The book is a vital source of information for readers interested in studying the metabolism of the lung.
