About this ebook

Georgia has the reputation of being one of the most haunted States in the U.S. Because of its age, its history, and its sometimes tragic experiences, there are plenty of tales, ghost stories and haunted locations in this state that take creepiness to a whole new level.

Georgia was established in 1732 and is one of the oldest in the United States. As one of the original 13 colonies it is charming and beautiful, and is wreathed in history and culture. The city of Savannah, along the Georgia coast, not only holds the distinction of being the oldest city in Georgia, but is one of the oldest cities in the United States.

As any ghost hunter or researcher of paranormal activity will tell you, the older the location the more active the ghosts.

Georgia is also home to many Revolutionary War and Civil War battles as well as Pirate and Indian skirmishes.

Join ghost hunter Sarah Ashley, as she shares with you some of the most popular locations in Georgia for paranormal activity and some of the most haunted Georgia ghost stories. From the Pirate’s House in Savannah to Spook Bridge (yes that’s right) in Lowndes County, she will expose to you the most chilling and frightening locations of reported paranormal activity in the state.

Author

Sarah Ashley

I am an author of books on paranormal activity. I have been fascinated with haunted locations since I was a teenager. Growing up, I had some terrifying encounters with ghosts in a home we lived in for a couple of years. Those experiences left a lasting impression on me and for many years I have been researching reportedly haunted locations and have found a few unknowns on my ghost hunts along the way. I decided to share my experiences with others who may be as fascinated, or perhaps just curious, with those who are trapped between life and death. I wanted to reveal unique landmarks that amateur ghost hunters and curious skeptics may want to visit - if they dare.

    Haunted Georgia: Introduction

The state of Georgia is one of the oldest in the United States. Nicknamed the Peach State, Georgia is not only sweet and beautiful, but is wreathed in history and tradition, with a culture of its own. Georgia was officially established in 1732, and holds the distinction of being one of the original seven Confederate states of America at the advent of the Civil War (in 1861).

Georgia’s climate (tucked between South Carolina to its northeast, Alabama on its west and Florida to the south), offers semi-tropical and nearly year round warm weather, if not a little muggy for those used to drier climates. The northern part of Georgia offers the Blue Ridge Mountains, while its southeastern borders provide miles of gorgeous seacoast along the Atlantic Ocean.

Georgia is home to numerous battles fought during the Civil War, as well as Indian battles, skirmishes and night raids. The state is also home to Savannah, one of the United States’ oldest cities. Because of its age, its history, and its sometimes tragic experiences, it's natural that Georgia offers plenty of ghosts and haunts to see. From the Pirates' House and the Moon River Brewing Co. in Savannah, to the Masquerade nightclub in Atlanta, to Berry College in Rome, Georgia is a fascinating state; a state that offers visitors plenty to see, do and experience.

From the city of Acworth to the town of Young Harris, Georgia is apparently the home of many spirits who have not yet crossed over be it willingly or unwillingly, and live among us - watching, waiting, and sometimes, even planning pranks or more malevolent activities.

Join us for a glimpse into some of the most popular (and some not so common) haunted sites throughout Georgia. Of course, our stories are just the tip of the iceberg. Savannah, Georgia has a reputation of being one of the most haunted cities in the country, and most inhabitants of Georgia know that nearly every mansion, museum, historical hotel, and even home throughout Georgia experiences a few unexpected - and unwanted - guests.

    Savannah Haunts

Savannah, one of the United States’ oldest cities, is home to numerous tales of hauntings, spiritual and paranormal activity. Any visit to Savannah offers visitors a plethora of haunted ghost tours, locations and sites to see and experience. Residents of Savannah seem to take the ghosts and spirits in stride, but even so, some of them have been scared a time or two. The following are just a handful of the most notable haunted sites in this charming, beautiful and very active city.

    The Pirates' House

    Location:

    20 East Broad Street

    Savannah, Georgia 31401

The Pirates' House isn’t really a house, per se, but a popular tavern and restaurant. The House was originally built in 1753, and is located slightly to the east of downtown Savannah. Originally, the property was intended to support a botanical garden, and a small house was built on the property in 1734 for the gardener. At the time, the small building was called the Herb House, and
