Daniel Fast – Overview
Daniel Fast is a biblical based fast in which a person is restricted to eat certain type of foods. It is based on two scriptures narrating the Prophet Daniel’s fasting experiences. In Daniel 1, the prophet ate nothing but fruits, vegetables and water. In Daniel 10, it is further clarified that the prophet did not even ate meat, royal bread and wine.
In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate no pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled
– Daniel 10:2, 3
Summing up, Daniel Fast is like a vegan diet with a few additional restrictions.
Benefits of Daniel Fast Diet
The holy Bible teaches us that we are a spirit, have a soul and live in a body. The Daniel Fast provides benefits to all three; spirit, soul and body.
1. The Daniel Fast strengthens our spirit and helps it control our cravings and hunger. It helps us take control of our self and makes us more patient and thankful to god.
2. Second, the Daniel Fast purifies our soul. The more you start taking control of your cravings, the more you learn to be patient and the more it refines your personality. Initially you will feel frustrated but eventually this frustration will turn into patience and peace. The Daniel Fast makes a person disciplined to resist certain foods. This discipline slowly and gradually spreads to other parts of your life.
