Forward
If you think you have an original thought, write it down and then read the bible. You will soon discover that God has already expressed it and much more eloquently. As Solomon says "There is nothing new under the sun".
Some of these poems I wrote before I acknowledged Jesus as my Lord and savior, and some I wrote after. (Jesus is everyone’s Lord and savior whether acknowledged or not.) Some I wrote as a young man and some when I was older.
I have used the fish symbol to separate my feeble words from God’s word. I realize now that God was always with me even when I pretended that he wasn’t. He always wanted to walk with me, even when I wanted to walk alone.
No matter what we have been through our Lord Jesus has been through worse. Maybe that’s why it’s easy to lean on Him when the going gets tough.
Michael H. Allen
Twin purse seiners at sea
Gillnetter Lost
Only fish docks are left where fishermen moored their boats
And where they stretched their nets to dry:
And salmon are disappearing; their return is remote,
But you can still hear the northwest wind
