1. Why Build a Computer?
Description: Circuit Board 1Computers have become a part of our daily lives and it is difficult to find a home or a business that does not have at least one of these electronic items available. Although it is certainly possible for you to go to your local electronics store and purchase a cheap computer, which will allow you to browse the web or send emails, you can also build your own computer. There are a number of benefits to doing so.
Building to Your Specs - First of all, you can build a computer exactly as you need it to be. When you purchase a ready-made computer, you may end up with one that is close to meeting your needs. But it may be lacking in one area while surpassing what you need in another. When you build your own computer, you can build it according to your needs and your reasons for using it.
Understanding the Computer - Although most of us know how to sit behind a keyboard and operate programs, we may not be fully aware of what goes on inside of a computer. When you take the time to build your own computer from scratch, it allows you to see what is going on inside of the computer and gives you a better appreciation for how it operates. In addition, it is easier for you to troubleshoot a computer when you have built it on your own.
Save Money - Even though computers are not very expensive in today's market, it is still possible to save money when you are purchasing only what you need. This is especially true when you build it from scratch and use individual components, rather than purchasing a computer kit.
It's Fun - Finally, building a computer is an enjoyable hobby and it is one that you may want to pursue as a career. When you build your own computer, your friends and family members are sure to hear about it and they may even want you to build them a powerhouse computer as well.
You will also find that there is very little that you need in order to put a computer together. Although you are going to have to assemble the individual components that will be discussed in the pages of this book, the only tools that you will likely need include a couple of screwdrivers and an antistatic area where you can put it together.
Let's begin by discussing some of the basics of building a computer. Before long, you will see that it is not a very difficult task and you will be ready to jump in with both feet and get started.
2. What Speed Do You Need?
