Amilliah Kenya has written a beautiful book about God’s purpose in making woman as a helpmate for man. She shows us how our differences from men are vital in the total picture of human kind. She seeks to paint for us the importance of our differences. In reading this book, I believe you will learn to appreciate that God made you special—He made you a woman

—Gloria Penwell, Acquisitions Editor, Bold Vision Books

God has given Amilliah Kenya the ability and insight to pierce thinking and touch hearts. Amilliah clearly shows that a woman doesn’t have to choose between following Jesus and being respected, encouraged, and valued. Instead, she uses God’s Word to transform misconceptions about a woman’s worth into practical application and joy in being a woman of God.

—Jane Randall, Bible Study Fellowship Teaching Leader

Amilliah writes from her heart’s desire to challenge women to know who they are in God and to harness the power that God has given them to make an impact wherever they are, whether at home, work or church. She writes from her experience; a woman who has walked with the Lord for many years, raising three beautiful children and standing by her beloved husband. The insights and wisdom she shares in her book are biblical, practical, and authentic, and will remain relevant to today’s women and for generations of women to come.

    —Susan Cherop-Kaai, PhD, Research Scientist

On one hand, the world rallies for feminism and for women to dominate over men. On the other, it rallies for submissive women who should never speak up. This is not the role of a woman. The Power of a Woman demonstrates the magnitude of the role of women and equips women to use their talents to glorify God in the manner in which God intended. Women are strong, beautiful, and serve a huge purpose in the lives of those around them.

    —Lisa Uy, Clemson, college student

    PREFACE

Great truth is weaved in the saying, When you educate a woman, you educate the world.

Not many women will stand to be spectators to a hurting world when it is in their power to help. A nation that has strong, powerful, wise, discerning, God-fearing women, is a strong nation. A home that has a brilliant, determined, loving, prayerful, God-honoring woman, is a strong home. The hand that rocks the cradle still rules the world. This is because women have a great ability to bring positive change. A woman’s influence has the capacity to permeate long, deep, wide, and with effectiveness.

This century is plagued with much suffering. The world is harsh and its sting is real.

What will it take to affect the world around you? It is easy to look to outside and far-fetched sources which equate to mere fantasies. Have you taken time to look around and within? Could God be pointing to you?

It is for this very reason that God speaks directly to you, saying, Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. (John 15:16)

You are not ordinary. In fact, God has fashioned you specifically to live in this century. You are God’s choice for our world today. God wants to use you to bring about change. Within you are God’s stores of potential to affect the world for His greater purposes.

    Author: Amilliah Kenya

    You are not ordinary

There is no ordinary woman in the world. Every woman holds a special place in the eyes and plans of God. God has used women to unfold His purposes for centuries. Women have been in the forefront in changing causes for homes, communities, churches, nations and generations. Women have God-given, built-in power to influence destinies. Few women do it while basking in the limelight, but many accomplish it by working behind the scenes.

Women influence quality, virtue, and direction. Women like precision and clear direction. They stand for the cause of many. Many men like and enjoy a one-man show. They may run for a cause but the driving force behind it is whom they will become, the pictures they will portray, and what people will think and say about them. This is not the case with most women. Beneath a woman’s actions is a heart that is burdened and beating for a child, the home, the parents, the destitute, the homeless, the hungry, the image of the school, the decapitation of a society, and the crumbling of a nation. At the core of their anguish is virtue, quality, character, love, fairness, compassion, and empathy.

A woman will groom a man and push him in the limelight, after which she retreats to the backstage to applaud him as he accomplishes enormous tasks.

A woman will toil to do what will honor a man, a home, or a community. She will gently point a man to what is ripe for the moment as she participates without taking the center stage.

A woman, out of her hearty desire, will formulate guidelines, lay down policies and envision sound principles to bring order and positive change. Quietly, and meekly, she will share and hand them to men who will implement and bring about desired change.

Women are in the forefront of beneficent ministries in our world today. Women are the character builders, virtue upholders, vision enhancers, and quality inspectors in many men’s lives. How true is the saying, Behind every successful man, there is a woman! A woman does not have to fight for a man’s position. It is one of the many wonderful qualities that are inherently knitted in the framework of every woman. Yes, the hand that rocks the cradle still rules the world even today!

Woman, you are at the heart of God

God intricately created the heavens, the earth, and all that is therein in a matter of days. On the sixth day, God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. (Genesis 1:26)

God wanted a man who would take care of the complex God-made world. The result was Adam, but the truth is there was a woman on God’s heart, too.

God revealed in Genesis 2:20 that Adam needed help. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him.

Man needs help. Man cannot rule the world alone. He cannot manage a home. A man will not rear children alone. Men are released to earth with a divine handicap, in need of a woman. This is a heavenly principle that is still true today. The world is complex, but God still puts people in strategic places of dominion to govern and rule over His creation. From the galaxy and astronomical world, to the plant, water, and animal world, man needs help.

Man’s suitable help is a woman. God did not find suitable help for Adam among the birds of the air, the wild animals, or the livestock. A woman could effectively play the double role that God had at creation. Have you heard of the joke that a man only uses one side of the brain while
