Book Abstract
The Fate of Africa is Meredith’s analysis of the demise of Africa over the past 50 years after gaining independence from colonialism. He looks at the damage done by European colonists who planted the seeds of inequality and violence and focuses on the constant struggles the countries have faced since Africa was handed back to Africans.
The book is written as a chronological explanation of the state of Africa to shed light on how the continent became a place of constant strife and atrocities. Meredith offers a critical analysis of the corruption of absolute power. He shows how the hope of independence has been eroded to despair as greed and ethnic resentment plunged countries into civil war, political dictatorships
