I really enjoyed this book. The chapters about being a mom were really helpful. She makes a lot of great points. Looking forward to reading Girl, Stop Apologizing next.

I think the most frustrating part of this book is to see the way it’s author has acted as though her life philosophy will lead to a great life but by following it herself she seems pretty miserable.
I’ve always thought a mechanic should have a car that runs great and a landscaper should have a house with a nice landscape. It would seem with somebody who gives advice about marriage and family should have a marriage and family that are in tact.
Not trying to be a troll but obviously loving yourself and not apologizing and washing your face is a really good way to destroy your marriage.

As far as self-help books go, I consider this one of the best. That's because this book is about HELPING YOURSELF. So many of these books are about accepting and loving yourself, which is wonderful, but this one is truly about the steps you can take to help yourself. Instead of accepting your circumstances, Rachel teaches ways to make progress and improvement. I loved this book and the bold honesty behind it. Women everywhere should read it.

Here is an extract from my blog which is fitting for this review. I’m listening to an audible book entitled, Girl, wash your face by Rachel Hollis and is astounded that this young woman, the same age as my eldest daughter can be so on-point while discussing the crucial truths we, as women need to hear. Where was she when I was 19 years old? Where was she when I was 52 years old, pining over a lost love? Committing mistakes upon mistakes to hold on to this man, just to learn I’m not good enough; and think this relationship had a future. I was beyond ignorant. There are so many points that really resonated within me that I simply cannot put it down here. The 20 chapters are to the point with helpful tips to get away from it into truth. I found the audible book refreshing, as though she was speaking to me directly. Needless to say, this is a must-read for any woman who wants to find the truths to the lies she believes. The author will challenge and, set you straight but yet do it in the humblest way. Being open about her own struggles made it easy to face my own and learn from the wisdom she provided. This is a book you can revert back consistently to help you in your own struggles and set you on the path of victory. A book I can recommend wholeheartedly.

I really enjoyed this book. It gave solid advice without being preachy. Which is important to me in self help books. I do not like being told there is only one way and all else is a fatal error. It accepted that everyone is different and walking their own path. It left me with the helpful reminder that we are more alike than we are not and there is a community of women out there sharing a similar path.

Written from a white rich privilege woman’s perspective. I couldn’t get past the first two chapters because I can’t relate to this woman at all. I grew up poor and suffered emotional and physical abuse. My mom died at a young age and I had to fend for myself with my alcoholic father. This lady was just not relatable for me. Sorry.
