À propos de l'auteur
Helen Beatrix Potter (1866-1943) was an English writer, illustrator, scientist, and conservationist. She is best known for her children's books featuring animals, such as the beloved The Tale of Peter Rabbit, which was written as a gift for the son of her former governess. Its success enabled her to commit to writing and illustrating full time, resulting in more than thirty books.

Until recently I had never read a Beatrix Potter book. I did not know that Mrs Tiggy-Winkle was a hedgehog who did ironing. I did not know what a 'clear-starcher' was. To be acquainted with the characters and words such as 'goffered' in this miniature edition was a delight. Sadly the enemies of books have been at it - the sticky price label and gift aid sticker could not be removed without severe damage to the front cover.

This is a delightful story about little Lucie's search for her hankies. She asks several other animals before she spends time with the cute Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle! One of the delights of this story is the appearance of several other famous Beatrix Potter characters. Love the illustrations, too!

My favorite of the Peter Rabbit books. I like how many of the other books are tied into this one.

A sweet tale of the woes of a laundress and her dedication. Also perhaps, of the imaginations of a child as she observes woodland creatures. This book has always transported me back to my childhood; my wanderings and wonderings about the critters I discovered.

I found this book to be elegant and delicate in both its appearance and its content. The illustrations are also refined and give one the sense of being dainty. The story is fanciful and leads the reader on an unexpected journey to meet the animals’ washerwoman. It is a lovely read aloud, but is quite text heavy, written with old language norms and so requires a certian dedication for a young reader to understand.

Lucy is a human character introduced to the Peter Rabbit series, has a bad habit of losing her pocket-handkerchiefs and this time she lost 3. She search for it high and low but couldn't find them anywhere. But what she found something else in the hills while searching and it is a door going straight into the hill. There, she meets an intriguing character with "hairpins" sticking out of her back who calls herself Mrs Tiggy-Winkle, who happens to be a washerwomen for all of the other animals. Turned out her missing hankies and pinny are being wash by Mrs Tiggy-Winkle.This is an interesting book and my favorite part is the ever so questions answered with "it you please'em". Beautiful colourful illustration to enjoy. Weird storyline though but it's an interesting non the less. Kids owuld enjoy this with an awe. Not a keeper but it's a good read.

A little girl named Lucie has lost three pocket-handkerchiefs, and her search brings her to the home of a little hedgehog named Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle. Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle has washed them and done the laundry for many other Beatrix Potter characters. At the end of the story Lucie discovers that Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle is a hedgehog, and others accuse her of dreaming.

A lifelong favorite of Potter's tales. Perfectly enchanting!

Lucie's lost hankerchiefs turn up in the home of a hedgehog, though Lucie isn't sure if she dreamed it all or not. Lucie is a good representation of the average child, always losing things and very inquisitive, while Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle is very kind and gentle for being so prickly. The plot isn't too exciting, but finding out at the end that Lucie had fallen asleep makes the reader wonder if it really happened or not, which is good for a child's imagination. The illustrations all complement the story very well. It is another classic by Beatrix Potter, and would be included in my collection.

Really seems to lack something that good children's books have. Too white bread or something.
