Translated by Maria Esther Wolburg Domínguez
We are born different
Just by looking you see
But many other things
Are later seen inside.
As children they distinguish us
We do not care
But little by little then
The gender will be noticed.
Intelligence is an echo
That we must not forget
It develops differently
And it changes us.
But inside the inheritance XX or XY
is not the same
the people who know, know
and life is like that.
We are born with gender
That is not the same in everyone
We find differences
Which make us special.
Better no one is
That you must be sure of
Each one is different
One sensitive, another harder.
Little by little we see
As we grow,
The differences there are
becoming more noticeable everyday.
Man and woman we grow
This is how life made us
With its many differences
Look at them, they are there.

Chapter 1. The origin of the differences
To speak of differences between man and woman is to do so initially of genetics, since it is on this basis that the latter differences are sustained. The human being contains 23 pairs of chromosomes (units in which DNA and RNA are stored), the last one carries the genetic information related to sex, which is why it is named the sexual chromosome, of which there are two types, X and Y, of these chromosomes, the woman is always going to provide the X in the egg, while the man can provide either X or Y in the sperm.
The form in which these chromosomes are combined determines the sex of the baby, so if XX is given, it will be a girl, while if XY is given it will be a boy, although on occasions alterations are produced in the genetic combination with cases like:
- Turne Syndrome, in which there is only one Y, they are women with a childish appearance and a lack of development of primary and secondary characters, accompanied by infertility, short stature, with difficulties for mathematics and nonverbal communication.
- Klinefelter Syndrome in which there are more Xs than necessary, showing XXY, even though there can also be XXXY, XXXXY, which is accompanied by infertility due to testicular failure caused by hypogonodism, they are taller men and with thinner extremities than their parents, predisposed to suffer autoimmune diseases and cancer, delay in the area of language with normal intelligence, and prone to suffer mood disorders.
- Superwoman syndrome with XXX, they are taller women with thinner limbs than their parents, predisposed to suffer from depression showing in half the cases a certain delay in intellectual performance and great sensory sensitivity.
- Superman syndrome with XYY, they are taller with thinner limbs tan their parents, predisposed to suffer delays in language, with learning problems, and in some cases with a slightly lower than average result in IQ.
The genetic combination is only the beginning of the differentiation in which two steps have to be taken to establish the sexual characteristics of the person:
- Primary determination, in which the gonads are defined, which are the sexual reproductive organs, with an important hormonal function; in the men they are the testicles (that produce androgen, among them testosterone) and in women the ovaries (which produce estrogens).
This distinction arises after the seventh week of gestation and is given by the presence of chromosome Y, which is a determining testicular factor, this means that if it does not appear, the natural
process of the undifferentiated gonad will be the generation of ovaries and with this the baby will be a girl, but if the Y chromosome is present, the testicles will be formed and thus the baby will be a boy.
- Secondary determination, which has more to do with the phenotype, this means, the expression of these genetics once the gonads are established, which generate hormones which modify the organism to convert it into man or woman, in the first case the penis is formed, while in the women the vagina and the uterus.
But the gonads are not only going to play a role in determining phenotype but also in the constitution of the brain, and so the presence of testosterone will produce a series of changes in what is known as masculinization of the brain and behavior, while in other mammals, it also aids
