About this ebook

This is my fi rst attempt at writing a romantic, adventure, so give me a break here. With that being said, here we go.

We’re living in an ever changing world. The American industry is down to its lowest point since the industry evolution of the late 1800’s. Tractors, T.V.s, automobiles, household wares, clothes, shoes, and thousands of other products are all being manufactured overseas by cheap labor. Manufacturing plants in the U.S. are closing or moving to foreign countries in droves.

Unemployment will continue to rise. We can blame our Government or overseas labor cost, but the bottom line is the American people. We’re shooting ourselves in the foot. In the process of trying to save a buck, we buy the cheapest products without regard to its consequences. There was a time we were proud to drive and wear American made products.

I can remember when the fi rst Asian motorcycles hit the streets. They can build fi ve bikes for the cost of one American machine, but the very name HARLEY DAVIDSON screams out, ‘Made in the U.S.A.!! And that fact along gives me hope that the American people can come to their senses and start demanding American products made right here in the good old U.S.A. using American labor.

I was hired by the police department in the winter of ’77 and continued until the winter of ’94. I enjoyed the first thirteen years but grew tired of it as the years went by. Micromanagement is never welcomed by anyone who actually works for a living. Being a police officer changes a person’s view of the world. You see the inherency of evil, but you grow as a human being, knowing that you are the only thing that protects the good from the evil. When I left the department, I wondered what I was going to do for a living. I really never fit in with the world after those years. So I decided to relive those years through books. I was more interested in making films, but it is a business hard to get into. So I sat down to write some screenplays and ended up with more material than I knew what to do with. I have a wife, Margie, and two daughters, Brandi and Amanda. I enjoy writing fiction and strive to publish a book about every two years. I’m now sixty years old and can’t seem to stop writing. I look back in time and remember all the old police officers who took the time to show me the ropes. Those old guys were something else. They taught me to help people, to respect people, and to protect the weak . . . the pray from the predator, but more importantly, they showed me where to draw the line, when to show force (it’s all about timing), when to know that things are fixing to go bad, and how to go with your gut feelings. I really miss those old officers. They drank, chased women, and they used a lot of profanity, but there was nobody I would rather have on my side in a bad situation. Yes, Jake O’Malley was a real person, and he was so many different people. As a matter of fact, all my characters are real, just the names have been changed. Most the conversations in my books are real. The plots are the only fiction in my books. Most of the old officers are scattered in cemeteries now, but they still live in my memories and books. I had a lot of good times with those guys. In real life, I could never write enough books to cover the real stories. This is part five of a seven-book series. I’m not that well educated and have no degrees, but I am gifted with an imagination. Readers, try to forgive me if I’ve offended anyone. I actually made fun of everyone, including myself. I think I’m going to try to write a children’s book. Don’t laugh, I’m for real. Hope you all enjoy the continuing stories of Jake, Theo, and all the others. I do.
