Organic Cooking: Eating Well"Organic Gourmet Recipes For a Healthier Life"A World School PublicationThree words, Yum, Yum, Yum, describe this healthy and wonderful organic cookbook with 300 original and simple recipes. For some reason I had always thought that if it was good for you it was probably boring, but God sure showed me. I saw salads, main dishes, beverages, snacks and deserts all in a new light. Besides the exciting meals I found a resource page to help me find some of the harder to get ingredients for the dishes. I enjoyed the format for each one because it has the name of the food first and how many it serves, then the ingredients, how to prepare it and finally helpful serving suggestions. I fell in love with the recipes for red potato salad and veggie omelet. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to eat healthy and happy at the same time.Love & Light,Riki Frahmann

Introduction

About this Book

Would you like to be healthier? Are you looking for quick and easy recipes that are also healthy? Are you tired of cooking the same old meals, week after week? Would you like to be a gourmet chef, but think it’s too difficult? Are you wondering what to do with some of the interesting or exotic foods you’ve seen at your local organic market? Are you trying to avoid pesticides, and other poisonous and artificial ingredients, in your food? Well, if your answer to any or all of these questions is yes, then this book, ORGANIC COOKING: Eating Well, is for you! You’re probably either already a part of the four percent of our country’s citizens who regularly consume organic foods, or you’re about to become part of the organic revolution—as this is the most rapidly growing segment of our food-eating population. Many of you are in a transitional phase, and this book will lead you in the right direction on the path to truly eating well.

Eating well is, of course, eating healthy, and no way of eating can really be healthy unless it is based on the finest organic ingredients. This book is more than an ordinary cookbook—it’s actually a longevity and healthy lifestyle guide. The original, organic gourmet recipes it contains are designed to produce wellness, which goes hand in hand with longevity. Many of today’s chronic and acute illnesses can be prevented, and even reversed, through the proper food choices and cooking methods—and that includes organic cooking and eating.

This book contains 300 gourmet recipes, which are complete, organic meal plans—from breakfast specials to super seafood suppers, from fabulous lunches to vegetarian delights, from amazing drinks to delectable desserts. The organic ingredients used in the recipes were all chosen for their health value, and they have been combined in creative ways to produce incredibly delicious, nutritionally well-balanced, gourmet meals, yet which are very simple to prepare. If you can cut with a knife (to prepare some of the ingredients), then you’ll be able to make these dishes—they’re that simple!

The main ingredient in this book is health, --and we’re here to show you how simple it is for all of us to come together in greater health and wellness. We invite you to join together with us, and learn our holistic approach of Organic Cooking. From eating by the season, to knowing your spices, we’ll introduce you to this simple, most effective way to rejuvenate and transform yourself into a natural picture of pure health. You will get an overall understanding of how simple, safe, and satisfying it is to follow the ways of organic cooking, and to become a model of health at whatever age you are--because you are what you eat! We present a simple, sensible, and flexible plan for you to follow for a year, to get you started. Everything you need is right here, from easy-to-follow directions, to an organic source guide. We include serving suggestions, as well as nutritional and health information about many of the foods included in our recipes.

About the World School

By way of introduction, the World School is an affiliate of the ADL (Alliance of Divine Love). We are a non-profit interfaith organization, and part of our mission is to educate the public about the natural ways of health and wellness—God’s ways--and we have incorporated these approaches into this book. We have transformed our own lives; and we believe in sharing with the world the lessons we have learned through our own experiences and research, which we are doing now through this book.

We are established leaders in the field of health and wellness. We are the founders of America’s Wellness Network, National Wellness Week, and America’s Wellness Fairs. National Wellness Week is an unofficial national holiday, October 4th through the 10th every year, which we created to be a week of celebration to encourage all Americans to develop a healthier lifestyle. We have brought our message of wellness to the local area with free community events that we have presented at our organic garden location in Florida (with over 40 different varieties of organic produce). America’s Wellness Fairs offered lectures, screenings, demonstrations, and more, from doctors, hospitals, community organizations, and leaders in alternative medicine and spirituality. This book is a natural outgrowth of our efforts, with healthy organic recipes that can be used every day to achieve greater health and wellness. We invite you to follow us down the organic garden path toward a healthier way of eating and living. For further information about the World School, find us online at: www.World-School.org. Organic Living

Before 1945, we all lived organically, because foods were grown in a sustainable manner, using sensible methods of cultivation. However, man has been destroying the environment of the Earth, and ourselves, from the harmful growing practices that have been instituted since 1945 in America. We have been contaminating ourselves, and causing cancer and other diseases in ourselves, and our children, and our children’s children, by buying, consuming and using food, drinks, and personal and household products that are not pure or healthy, like organic is. It has been proven that young children and the unborn, whose bodily systems are undergoing development, are likely to be the most damaged by exposure to these destructive chemicals. Often unknowingly, through our buying power, we have been supporting the large corporations that produce the contamination, and thus creating ever-worsening ways of living for all humankind. We have been letting these companies take control of us and our children, deciding how our lives are going to be. Certainly, lacing ourselves and our children with pesticides is not a healthy or sane way for anyone to live. Fortunately, it’s still possible to turn the tide, and many people are switching to a healthier, organic way of life—and this book will help you make that transition. In this year alone, organic growing has doubled from consumer awareness and demand.

Man has always learned by his mistakes. Let’s not continue to be statistics, like the 60 million Americans who currently suffer from digestive disorders alone, or the two-thirds of our population who are overweight or obese. We believe, as we learned from longevity expert Dr. Frederic J. Vagnini, that Our health is in our own hands. It’s time to reverse and regenerate our old habits into smart approaches. Let’s learn to practice the ways to purify our eating, drinking, and breathing. It’s time to say We, the people once again, and demand our right to pure food, water, and air, and a healthier and better way of life—for the environment, for ourselves, and for the generations to come.

Organic Cooking

This book is a manual for obtaining or maintaining wellness naturally, through our consumption. By eating well through organic cooking, you will be strengthened holistically to rejuvenate your body, mind and soul. We are all self-healers—when we’re eating, drinking and breathing in a natural, healthful manner.

In this book, you’re going to learn how to cook and eat organically; and, in turn, you will start living a more satisfying, healthier life. All the dishes are simple to prepare and make—and simply delicious! By using the right organic ingredients, and forming the proper, well-balanced blends, you will be making the right combinations that synergize into health, creating a masterpiece of health and longevity—you!

This book took a year to write, since it was written from the experience and inspiration of living organically, close to nature (at the World School’s Florida location on our organic Health & Healing Orchard Garden property, our headquarters for five years), and cooking every day, seasonally, throughout the year. The ingredients are based on seasonal availability of organically grown produce from America’s and the world’s farms, and other organic products available from organic and natural food stores.

The authors eat mostly plant-based foods--we are modified vegetarians, in that we include dairy and fish (along with occasional poultry), and the recipes reflect our own ways of eating. For those of you who are strictly vegan or vegetarian, you can eliminate the fish and dairy with easy substitutions to suit your own preferences.

You will find no red meat in this book, and we do not use butter in any of the recipes, as these ingredients are not healthy. Instead, we use delicious combinations of seasonal fruits and vegetables to form the healthful basis of our fabulous, organic gourmet recipes. We emphasize a variety of brightly colored fruits and veggies, available at different times of year, from mangos and avocados in July and August, to oranges and grapefruits in December and January.

Carbohydrates, when used, are usually balanced with salad greens and/or other vegetables at the same meal, a more healthful approach. We emphasize whole grains, especially high-protein varieties, such as soy flour, spelt, brown rice, and sprouted grains.

The fats that we use are strictly the good fats, including avocado, extra virgin coconut oil, extra virgin olive oil, and a variety of nuts, which have other health benefits as well. An important element in every diet should be omega-3 essential oils, which must be obtained from food (or supplements). We emphasize seafood as potent sources of these essential oils, as well as some of our main protein sources; and we include over 100 recipes for seafood dishes, most of them complete meals. We also include flax recipes as another important source of these oils, especially for vegetarians. And there are now organic eggs that are cultivated as sources of omega-3’s, as the hens have been fed omega-3-rich grains (these are the eggs that we prefer, and recommend).

We use many organic spices and herbs in our cooking, as these are very flavorful, as well as beneficial. It’s important to infuse these herbs and spices, with various beneficial oils, right into the water you use to make pasta, potatoes or veggies. The house will smell great, and your mouth will start watering as you wait for the finished meal—a benefit to your digestive system.

We present a sensible and flexible plan—one that is nutritionally advantageous, and which can be adapted to meet your particular needs. The choices are entirely up to you. Whether you are a working person on the go, a busy student, an amateur or professional athlete, a retired couple, or a typical family, you’ll be able to choose from an incredible variety of meals--breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, too, that will suit your tastes and timeframes. Enjoy the super organic produce that can be found in your local marketplace, or even have it shipped directly to you, along with the other recommended organic products, as you experiment with new recipes every day. You certainly won’t find food boring any more!

Many of the recipes do not give exact quantities for some of the ingredients, especially the herbs and spices. If no quantity is given, that means that it is variable. It is usually a small amount, and you should use your own taste preferences as a guide—for example, a pinch of cinnamon, a sprinkle or two of garlic powder, or a handful of grapes. Also, feel free to substitute particular organic fruits, vegetables, and other products with other organic ones that may be available to you, or that you prefer—as long as they are organic, and of similar nutritional value.

In this book, we name the products that we personally use ourselves, and the companies that produce or distribute them, as these are the companies that have the availability of these foods throughout the nation. We will be giving you a list of these companies, along with their contact information. And these companies don’t just offer healthy products for consumption —many of them also give back to the community in various ways, as we do. It’s time to unite and come together in our continuing efforts towards better health for our community—Earth.

Organic Certification and Standards

Since 2002, the USDA seal for organic foods allows us to separate the right and the real from what’s wrong. Always look for the USDA Organic seal of certification on the produce and other products that you buy, which means that 95-100% of the ingredients are organic (produced without the use of dangerous pesticides, artificial fertilizers, additives, or genetically-modified organisms (GMO’s).) If such products are not available, the next best thing would be where you see contains organic ingredients on the label. Anything else—do not buy it! You can’t substitute non-organic produce or products and expect to get the same results or tastes. Our recipes were all tested using only organic foods, and these are the only foods that we can, in all conscience, endorse.

Furthermore, it’s not just that organic foods are produced without poisonous chemicals. Facts are now appearing on how much better and healthier organic foods are, with evidence that certain organic products have 30% more nutrition, and are much greater in value, than their non-organic counterparts, because of how they are grown.

It’s also a fact that tap water has disease, chemicals, heavy metals, toxins, chlorine, and sometimes fluoride, which are all harmful to your body in the worst possible way, and bottled water is often not pure either. That’s why we’re going to educate you to bring alkaline, antioxidant, energized water into your home, for you and your children.

Eating Well through Organic Cooking

By cooking with organic foods, using our recipes, your body will automatically start to form into its natural shape—no diets required. It will start working towards ridding itself of digestive problems, and you will start to restore yourself into more balance and energy, and finally reach that feeling of appreciation for your body—a feeling that will be with you for life. Your immune system will work towards maintaining a level where you are at your strongest to prevent getting colds, flu, and viruses, at the same time you start to rejuvenate all the organs in your body for better performance. That’s eating well!
