I Darin T. Steele would like to acknowledge all the important people that have helped me along the way. Life is so strange it seems that full circle we fall. At this time, I would like to give special thanks to my mother Mary West; she is my strength and my support system. I love her dearly with all my heart. Also, to my dear friend Ladonna Kearney for all her assistance. She really inspires me. Her poetry is sensational; she is an upcoming author look for her work soon. I thank God for blessing me with the gift because without him I am lost.

Chapter 1
Relationships
-Sometimes in a relationship
We must stand tall and silent
Like the great wall of Berlin
When two people are lost in love
No one can win
However what appears to be real
Can be fake
A relationship should be based
On give and take
Not on how well
Someone can make or bake a cake
Many nights you may lie and weep
And without true love
You will cry yourself to sleep
But always pray to the Lord for your soul
To keep…
To have someone to hold, is a beautiful thing. The pain in a relationship is the hurt that love sometimes feels. Love is the quest that transcends the test of time. Let your heart and soul travel the path of enlightenment and insightfulness. By chance, the 3d’s divorce, desertion, and death devour your potential of having long-term relationships. They take the possibilities of achieving happiness to another level. For, life itself is a calculated risk, and you never know what the future holds. The first of the 3d’s is divorce. During this process I can imagine, that someone’s hopes and dreams and all they have invested in their relationship seems to have been all for nothing. Sometimes things do not work out as planned; in a relationship one would hope for longevity and prosperity. Maybe, people get married for the wrong reasons. Marriage is a sacred bond that husband and wife share. The values of marriage are somewhat vague because the vows are short lived. Unfortunately, today, in America the overall divorce rate is 1 million strong and counting. With the divorce rate increasing annually, this sets a dangerous precedent for the youth in society. Some marriages have alternative plans; the doubts and fears play a major part. Reality sets in and one realizes that maybe nothing is forever, and things don’t always work out. So, instead of having a life long mate, somehow, with luck of the draw people try to remain friends.
The second of the 3d’s is desertion. During this process one of the parties in the relationship just leaves, for one reason or another. The deserter leaves with no regard to the loved one’s hurt by his or her actions. This person is very selfish, lacking concern for the other person involved. However, the deserter feels that his loved one may be better off without him or her. The deserter often times is a parent. Sometimes parents don’t realize the impact they have on their children; they are the biggest influence in their children’s lives. Children depend on their parents for guidance and direction. For, charity starts at home; this statement holds truth. Both parents are much needed in the household. Understandably, they play very important roles. In some cases the deserter has a chance to make a wrong decision right, to become a part of the loved
