I have always been a storyteller, with a great Imagination. Also being dyslexic I have struggled with my writing. All my life people have not seen the content of the storys that I wrote but all they saw was spelling mistakes that I had made. I was born in Biloxi Mississippi, when I was 6 months old my family moved to Japan where we lived for almost three years. We came back to New York where I have lived for most of my life. I have worked in many interesting jobs. A summer in Yellowstone National Park working in the kitchens. I have washed cars, worked for guilding eyes for the blind, working in the Kennels. And now I work for Macys and have done the Macy thanksgiving day parade as a clown about five times

    A Town without Christmas

Once upon a time there was a little town called Bugleton that didn’t celebrate Christmas or Hanukkah. No lights or decorations, decorated the town. And it was all because the town board had decided not to allow any outside decorations or any kind of public celebrations. Every time some one tried to get the board to change their minds and allow the town to have a Christmas parade or to allow a tree and a menorah in the city park. The town board, led by the Mayor always voted it down. Three members of the town board tried every year to get the laws changed but the mayor had three members who voted the way he did, so the vote was always 4 to 3.

But then one day two people came into town that changed everything.

No one noticed the two people who walked into the little town the day after Thanksgiving. But after a while people started to notice that two strangers were different, they greeted everyone with a smile and a cherry greeting and they seemed to know everyone by name.

The chief of police, Chief Stewart stood against the wind on a cold, wet rainy day, when the two strangers came up to him. He noticed that they didn’t seem to mind the cold and the rain. The man was tall and with red hair and startling green eyes, while the woman was small with short blond curly hair and bright blue eyes. The man held out his hand.

Good morning, Chief Stewart. We are Nick and Noel Garland. We have just arrived in your beautiful little town and we were wondering if there was a somewhere we could stay?

Chief Stewart looked at the two people, wondering how they knew his name, but then he figured that they must have asked someone.

Well, there is Mrs. Owen; she runs a boarding house on the edge of town. She might have a room or two to rent.

    The man smiled.

    Thank you Chief Stewart.

As the two strangers walked away, Chief Stewart shook his head.

    Wonder why they are here?

Nick and Noel walked towards a large house on the edge of town. On a tree near the street, was a sign saying ‘ROOMS TO RENT"

    Nick smiled at Noel.

    Well, here we go.

Mrs. Julia Owen heard the doorbell ring and wondered who could be calling. She went to the door and saw two people standing on her porch. She opened the door.

    Can I help you?

    Nick smiled.

HI! Our names are Nick and Noel Garland and we heard that you have rooms to rent.

Julia Owen nodded her head; she was a bit taken back by the warmth and happiness that seems to radiate from the two people standing on her porch. She nodded her head.

I do, how long will you need them for?

Just until the end of the Christmas season.

    The Christmas season?

    Nick smiled.

Yes, we are planning to open up a Christmas shop here in town. And from what we saw in town it looks like you could use one.

    Julia Owen shook her head.

I don’t know if you know it but the town council doesn’t allow any celebrations of Christmas or Hanukkah. They don’t even allow any outdoor displays of Christmas; they even passed a law saying that our Christmas trees can’t be seen from the street in case someone gets offended at the sight of the tree, so I doubt you will have many customers.

    Nick smiled.

    We will see.

Julia Owen gestured to let them in.

The rooms, well they are not too fancy, but with my husband away. He works on an Oil rig; we haven’t been able to do too much in fixing the place up. It is just my son Billy and me.

    Noel smiled.

Oh, don’t worry about that. We aren’t into fancy things. What ever you have will be fine.

The only double room I have is at the top of the house, I am sorry that I can’t give you something on one of the lower floors.

    Nick shook his head.

It is OK, We like it up high. How much do we owe you?

    I charge by the week.

She named a price and Nick pulled some money out of his pocket and after counting it out handed it to her.

Here, until the end of December.

Mrs. Owen was surprised that they paid in full.

Well, let me show you to your room.

Later that night, Julia Owen introduced Nick and Noel to her ten year old son Billy. As they sat down to dinner, Nick questioned Mrs. Owen, on why the town council didn’t allow any Christmas or Hanukkah decorations?

    Julia Owen sighed.

It all started when Mayor Noble decided a few years ago that Christmas displays were offensive to non-Christians. It started out with just little things, no nativity scene in the park, no parades. Then it got to be no Christmas songs in the schools or Christmas parties. After a while people just stopped trying to fight it. It just seemed easier not to fight it.

    Billy looked at his mother.

But Mom, there is Reverend Scott, and the others are still trying to bring back Christmas.

    Reverend Scott?

    Julia Owen smiled.

"Yes, a group of town people are trying to over turn some of the laws. There Reverend Scott, Father Lockhart, Rabbi Goldenberg and three members of the town board, Mr. Payne, Mr. Warner and Mrs. Dillon. The trouble is that Mayor Noble, Mr. Rosenbaun, Mr. Harrison and Mrs. Finlay. They always vote against any request for a change in the laws. And since there are seven members
