Description
Hence the title of this latest work: Owen in Motion.
Owen in Motion is Dougs fifth volume of poetry and writings. In this book the reader will be enriched, inspired, encouraged and entertained. At times, the reader will be treated to a poem or tale of spiritual content, only to be followed by a simple poem with a twist of both tongue and mind. Throughout the book are poems and writings about love and loss, marriage and family life, spiritual journeys and living large, which will cause the reader to pause and reflect on both the simple and deep things in life. As was true for his first four books, once you pick it up you will have trouble putting it down.

About the Author
To Tisha -
my favorite wife.
You are and always will be the only
gal in the universe that strums my heartstrings.
Thanks
I would like to recognize and give thanks to the One person who deserves my gratitude and appreciation for all He has done for me. God has blessed me with a small degree of talent and I enjoy sharing it. But of much more importance is the great gift of salvation that He bestowed upon me several years ago. All of the glory and all of the praise belongs to Him. Thank you, Father!
Thanks is also in order for my best friend and wife Tisha who continues to be my greatest fan. Her never-ending belief in me and her support for my writings gives me the drive and inspiration to keep scribbling my thoughts and poems on paper. Thank you, my love!
Many heartfelt thanks to an extremely wonderful and caring long time friend of the family. She invested untold hours going over and over this manuscript to ready it for print. Denise, thank you for your insight, suggestions and editing.
To my readers, friends and family that have so graciously commented and encouraged me over the years. Many of you have shared with me how one or more of my poems or sayings has inspired or encouraged you along your journey.
Introduction
My mother told me, on more than one occasion, that I was almost born in an elevator. I do not doubt that statement one iota for my life has been nothing but a series of ups and downs ever since. I really can’t sit still. Even my lovely bride of almost four decades hollers at me because I twitch, sometimes violently, when I sleep.
Hence the title of this latest work: Owen in Motion.
Owen is my middle name. Which quite obviously means I have a name that comes before Owen and I have a name that comes after Owen. That leaves Owen smack dab in the middle of all the action.
Speaking of middle, doesn’t that word imply an end on either side? Why sure it does. Fact is, this Owen has been bouncing from end to end my entire life. I vividly recall a specific memory in our house on the Caribou Road in Presque Isle. The toast popped out of the toaster and I proceeded to butter it on the counter. My mother remarked, Doug, that’s a good idea. You won’t dirty a plate by doing it that way.
Just a few short days later, I heard her saying, Don’t use that dirty counter, use a plate.
She helped me get my start at seeing both sides of the issue and then take a stand right in the middle.
Which brings us to the work in your hands. It has been my pleasure putting this book together for your reading enjoyment. Reader, this is not a race. If you try to consume this volume in one setting you will miss the majority of it. Slow down. Find the hidden meaning. Locate the humor. See things in a different light. Enjoy the journey. May you find inspiration for your voyage and a couple of chuckles along the way.

Quickie Ditz and Choice Tidbits
Trailer Treasure
If you have ever lived in or visited a trailer park, you may possibly have an unfavorable view of them. Once you read this short story, your outlook of such parks might be forever changed.
In the winter months, I spend the better part of my Saturday delivering propane to an exceptionally unique trailer park in Carteret, New Jersey. There are approximately 150 mobile homes in this park permanently situated on nine streets. And speaking of streets … instead of names, they go by letters in alphabetical order ranging from A to O. Then they use numbers from one to… however many trailers there are on that particular street. Some streets have nine homes while others have up to twenty two.
Now, B - 4 you jump to any more conclusions about the people that reside in trailer parks, let me assure you this is an A - 1 development. Please allow me to introduce to you some of the fine citizens that dwell in this mobile park.
Two twin brothers live here and they are both young, vibrant and run a thriving, successful business selling vitamins. One lives at B - 6 and the other at B - 12.
There is a young lady at K - 9 who works at the ASPCA. As you can imagine she loves animals, especially dogs.
The other day I drove into the park and I was met by the gentleman who is always telling me about his trips to Atlantic city and his lack of luck at the roulette table. He met me screaming, I won! I won!
Yes, you are catching on. He dwells in the trailer at I
