Heyoka

Heyoka is a Shape Shifter. From early childhood she knew that life was a mystery she had to understand. A strong inner drive made her question everything! Accepting and persevering painful experiences in her life, she 'recovered' from being beaten in school, a long lasting eating disorder, severe depression, difficult relationships and the required effort to parent and support her three children as a single mother. By continiously pulling herself up from the ditch of self-pity she learned a great deal about how the mechanics of this mysterious life works. It took 50 years of her life to understand that she was the sole creator of her world, and that every instant of her life depended on how she perceived it in that very instant. Going from being unconscious of her creations to conscious of her creations transformed both her and the world she lived in, because she finally awoke to the fact that they are one and the same.

The Common Sense of Magic - Heyoka

    1. BACKGROUND

I have been immersed in very uncomfortable emotions such as jealousy, greed, fear, pride, competitiveness, inadequacy, intolerance, shame, guilt and hopelessness in my search and deep hunger for love, affection, security, recognition and approval. My life has been an experience of everything that I am not to find out that I am.

I have spent much time and effort to find ways to improve this world, but due to its fruitless struggle I had to change my approach. To understand my own drive for change and improvement, put me into a process of deep self-analysis.

Why did I want to change the world, and from where did I get the idea that I could change it?

Suffering has, in its severity, been the driving force to explore my humanness to the fullest, searching for answers to fundamental questions:

    1.   Why do we do the things that we do?

    2.   What is the purpose of living?

    3.   What kind of mechanism is operative between people?

    4.   Why do some people repel and some people attract?

    5.   Why do some people violate the rights of another?

    6.   What does it mean to love someone?

    7.   Where do our needs come from?

    8.   Why do we do what we do?

    - - -

In January 2004 I had a mystical and penetrating experience, where my physical body dissolved into nothingness. All I could identify with was the eternal rhythm of my own breath. It had no beginning and no end. I was inhaling and exhaling the universe. Everything around me moved in and out of me, following the rhythm of my breath. The floor, the chairs, the table, the sofa, the pictures on the wall, the wall itself, the windows, the sky and the trees outside,—all moved inside me when I inhaled, and back into its place when I exhaled. In one moment I was everything, and in the next moment I was nothing (no thing).

I relived my life from birth up to the present moment, and I felt every incident to be saturated with meaning. Painful experiences were now understood and felt with contentment and humble gratefulness. Deep peace filled me. It was not even a feeling; it was just peace. I was peace.

In that instant all my questions were answered. In this fine tuned balance point of infinite potential rested both powerful dynamism and absolute stillness simultaneously. They were one and the same. The peace and contentment was myself—the pure joy of being! I was immersed in love and acceptance and felt completely and truly at home.

The message that penetrated me was:

    Do not fear.

    Do not compete.

    Do not compare.

    Do not condemn.

This overwhelming glimpse of eternity changed the course of my life and sent me onto a path of exploring the nature of my experience. I went to numerous courses, explored various spiritual practices and eventually met Vigdis Garbarek. She has, with her compassion and wisdom, been of great assistance to me in my search for clarity and understanding. I was later introduced to The Gene Keys, describing every detail of my mystical experience. The Gene Keys is founded upon a system called Human Design, and both systems of knowledge are explored further in the last two chapters in this book.

The notion I had about reaching this peaceful state of being once again, of not being affected by emotional turmoil, was completely smothered during the years that followed. The endless search for answers, the effort of becoming, the striving for perfection, the fight between negative and positive thoughts and my extreme resistance to limitation led to a complete exhaustion of my will to accomplish anything in the outside world. I began to listen more attentively to what I really wanted in life, and in this process of becoming more aware of myself I became very self-centered. The need to listen to, compete and compare myself with others became less significant, until it eventually lost its significance all together.

I had been given the idea that I should kill the ego, since it was supposedly the very thing standing in the way of self-realization. I tried so hard, from the platform of my ego, to act in a non-egotistical manner, leaving me powerless and depleted. Due to my own raw experience of the fallacy of this hypocritical behavior, I want to emphasize the beauty of your true and honest expression, no matter how bold. Authentic behavior is the most natural and the most difficult thing there is, but nevertheless the first and foremost criteria to fully bloom as a Human Being. It is the most important virtue in the honoring of yourself, who literally is the sole perceiver of your world.

I have been mercilessly honest with myself; attentively observed my own reactions and motivations to think, speak and act the way I have done and still do. Sorting through what appears to be the bulk of my issues, wounds, and confusions have led to an utter trust in the simplicity of just resting in my being, and let my natural response to whatever arises in the moment be the guide for my actions.

I hope you will benefit from what I have to say.

    2. PROGRAMMING AND CONDITIONING

You are programmed to function in a certain way, but you are conditioned by your environment to function in another, and this is what is creating a tension field inside yourself, and in the world.

You are conceived to receive information that you can perceive.

Like a flower, you carry a seed of information, naturally unfolding if you let it. What you are designed to receive and express of information is determined by the information in your seed; your genetics. The suffering occurs when there is a distortion between what you receive and what you express, and the distortion comes from the way you interpret the information that you receive. How you interpret what you perceive is based on what you have learned to value and believe to be true in your childhood, being conditioned by the cultural environment in which you grow up.

Inside the womb you have a perfect DNA—the quantum instructions of your design—ready to go. When you take your first breath the concept of time and space is born. I am here and you are there. You are no longer entangled with your mother, but have become a separate individual ready to explore your creation. Your mother feeds you and teaches you everything with her boundless affection, love and concern. Your father becomes your second teacher and does also offer his affection, love and concern in boundless measure. Family situations may not be, as we know, as glorious as described here, but are nevertheless the most wished for and natural way in which you are brought into this world. Your first teachers are of equal value and of equal importance.

In later years you become a student and you will learn many subjects from many teachers. You will eventually get an education and some work experience and become a man of knowledge. All these years may have brought you what you have worked for; satisfaction, more satisfaction and a deeper and more fulfilling satisfaction.

But in spite of that, you may experience a vague restlessness inside, as if there is something more to life than what you have yet discovered. You have got earth knowledge, you may have become an authority on a particular subject, you may know how to behave in various settings and you may even be
