About this ebook
A pine coned tree with lots of presents draped with bright colored paper and bows underneath. Chestnuts roasting on that open fire. Mistletoe perched above the front door. Stockings hung on the mantle. A turkey baking in the oven and hot chocolate in mugs topped with loads of marshmallows. The baby Jesus in the manger with the wise men coming to see him in the usual spot on the mantle. Who doesn't love Christmas right? Okay, Scrooge. Besides Scrooge, most people have great memories of Christmas. The anticipation seems unbearable and the long list from the kids for Santa seems to get longer and more expensive every year. In the midst of it all, there is love. Love for family, friends and a heart that reaches out for those in need.

A special thank you to my husband, Brian K. Royston for all of your love, care and support of the many books and projects that God places in our heart.
Rev. Claude R. Royston you are the best editor ever. Thank you always. To Mrs. Lillie Royston for your support, care and encouragement. To my awesome mother, Dr. Daisy Foree who is my number one cheerleader and will always have my back no matter what. You are the best mother ever. To my entire family for all that they do to keep me motivated and moving forward to fulfill this purpose in the earth.
We all need and want love. The best love comes from God above. Next, pour God’s love on yourself and then spread God’s love to everyone else. The greatest thing is still LOVE.
Love Always...

Ben stretched and looked out the window. He could see the snow-covered rooftops below. It was Christmas in Chicago and it was always cold, but beautiful. Ben smiled to himself as he thought of his Uncle Charles and Aunt Sarah. He was coming to visit them for the Christmas holiday, just as he had for the last three years. Ben was born and raised in Miami. He had never known cold and snow at Christmas time. He enjoyed having picnics on the beach on Christmas Eve and backyard cookouts during the holiday season in Miami. His family was small – just Ben and his mother in Miami, and his uncle and aunt in Chicago. They had no children of their own, and had always spoiled Ben from the time he was born. He had a few other distant cousins, but he had long since lost track of them. But three years ago, just two weeks before Christmas, his mother had passed away from breast cancer. Since then, Ben could not bear to spend Christmas at home. So each year, he flew to Chicago to his Aunt and Uncle’s where they would spend the holidays together. He loved the hustle and bustle of shopping at the malls, walking on Michigan Avenue watching, eating lunch at the Walnut Room Restaurant at Macy’s on State Street and seeing children wide-eyed with wonder and anticipation as they gazed at all the decorations up and down the streets and in the store windows.
He arrived at the house welcomed by the smell of chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. Aunt Sarah knew they were his favorite. He remembered her bringing him a fresh baked batch every time she came to Miami to visit. He had so many fond memories of his childhood, and he would never have believed in a million years that his mother would be gone so soon. He pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind as he sat his bag down in the foyer and hugged his aunt and uncle.
Merry Christmas, Ben!
they said.
Merry Christmas guys
Ben said as he looked around. Wow, Aunt Sarah you have really gone all out with the decorations this year.
Yes
she winked at Ben, I decided to add a little something extra. We’re having some special guests for Christmas dinner.
Ben and his uncle exchanged a look, and Aunt Sarah knew exactly what they meant.
I’m sorry,
said his uncle as he shrugged his shoulders. I told her not to try anything, but you know your Aunt Sarah. She’s on a mission.
Ben laughed and shook his head.
Okay, Auntie, I’m going to freshen up. See you in a little bit.
Ever since her sister had died, Sarah had been concerned about Ben’s social life. She of course understood the pain of losing a parent, but she told her husband that she was afraid that Ben would never get married or have children. Charles told her to just give him some time, after all it had only been three years, and that he would come around. But each Christmas, Sarah somehow arranged a dinner or an outing or an impromptu visit that always involved a young woman Ben’s age. Ben and his uncle Charles always got a kick of it. They knew she meant well, and they also knew that they would not be able to change her. So they just played along. Secretly, Ben enjoyed the matchmaking game
but so far, none of the women he met captured his attention enough to be more than a friend.
Ben was 20 years old in his junior year in college when his mom died. Now at 23, he was in graduate school pursuing his Master’s in Education. His mother had been a math teacher, and Ben was following in her footsteps. He pulled out his phone and brought up her picture. He kissed it and said Merry Christmas, Mom. I love you and miss you so much.
Then he took a long hot shower and went downstairs to see if he could steal a cookie before dinner.
Dinner was wonderful, as usual. Sarah always had turkey, ham, green bean casserole, macaroni and cheese, corn bread, candied yams, assorted salads, cakes and chocolate chip cookies exclusively for Ben. Get a good night’s sleep,
Sarah told Ben after they had finished dinner. Tomorrow we hit Michigan Avenue to do some shopping.
Ben always looked forward to that. He kissed his uncle and aunt goodnight and went up to his room.
The next morning they had an early breakfast and headed out. As they were pulling out of the garage, Ben caught sight of
