About this ebook

How do you describe a lifetime of events? For David Vercoe writing poetry has become a key ingredient in expressing feelings and thoughts that might otherwise remain unspoken. God has given him a gift of being able to express in poetry, concepts that cannot be easily expressed in normal conversation. The poems are grouped topically on themes like nature, personal stuff, journey and grief. This collection of modern poems or psalms will bring encouragement and hope to people from all walks of life and faith.

    Foreword

I have had the privilege of journeying with David in church leadership for the past twelve years of my life. During this time he has written many poems and taken many photographs, and I have painted and sculpted as time has allowed. My hope is that in reading this book of poetry, you will become part of our conversation about what it means to find God in all seasons of life. I recommend David’s writing to you as good food for personal reflection and conversation.

I dedicate this booklet to my loving family:

To Eileen my wife, without her love and support this book of poems would never have been written. I am so grateful for her support, encouragement and understanding. She is truly my best friend and an inspiration to all who know her.

And to my children: Blair, Kristine, Jared and Caleb, who have brought me so much joy in watching them grow into maturity as adults. I get so much pleasure and inspiration from them and pray that God continues to develop the potential I can see in each one of them.

This booklet is both my gift and my legacy to them.

    Introduction

My name is David Vercoe and this booklet is about what God has taught me and given to me over the years. This year He has made it clear that my poetry is not just for me but it is meant to be shared.

Why sign this book as DV.

DV stands for the Latin words—Deo Volente meaning God Willing and is often used by people at the end of a letter in the form DV meaning just that God Willing (this or that will happen).

My initials are DV and I just think it is neat that my initials spell out God Willing, because that is what I am, a willing servant of the most High God.
