About this ebook
Experience Freedom by Embracing
One Fear—and Releasing All Others
It sounds strange, doesn't it? Exchanging your fears for another. But the fear of God has the power to extinguish every anxiety that keeps you from living in hope.
Bestselling authors Neil Anderson and Rich Miller want to show you how to let go of the common but harmful fears of failure, evil, and death and find safety in your relationship with God. As you uncover the path to true freedom, you'll also see where your fears come from and why it's exceedingly important to break their hold on you now.
Come, trade your worry-filled days and nights for a worshipful life. See how "in the fear of the Lord there is strong confidence" (Proverbs 14:26)—all you need to live courageously and peacefully, even in frightening times.

Reviews for Letting Go of Fear

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5"God "delivered us from so great a peril of death, and will deliver us, He on whom we have set our hope" (2 Corinthians 1:10). Notice that He "has" and He "will" deliver us. For every child of God, the greatest object of fear has been removed if we believe the gospel, but other objects of fear remain as we seek the Lord in this fallen world. We still have to resist the devil, overcome our flesh patterns, and be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). But God will deliver us from fears, worries, doubts, and panic attacks as we mature in Christ." (Neil T. Anderson, Letting Go of Fear)
Jesus said in the last day's people's hearts would fail them for fear and anxiety over what is coming upon the earth. (See Luke 21:26). So what did Jesus tell us to do when we have fear of the things that are coming upon this world? He told us to "straighten up and raise your head, because your redemption is drawing near" (See Luke 21:29).
Not all fear is necessarily a bad thing. The authors reiterate this in this book by saying "Fear is the most basic instinct of every living creature. An animal without fear will likely be some predator's dinner. Fear is the natural response when our physical safety and psychological well-being are threatened. Rational fears are learned and vital for our survival. For instance, falling off a chair at an early age develops a healthy respect for heights. Phobias, on the other hand, are irrational fears that compel us to do irresponsible things or inhibit us from doing what we should."
Therefore, I believe when the Bible is talking about "Fear not"; it's not talking about rational fears; I believe it's talking about irrational fears. Jesus knew that as human beings we are prone to worry; He taught us not to worry and not fear through His teachings in the Gospels. Probably His most famous teaching on worry and fear was in the sermon on the mount. He is saying this to you and me today (RIGHT NOW!):
“...do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own."
Getting back to this book, the authors are trained counselors. Neil T. Anderson has helped many people step into their freedom in Christ through his Steps to Freedom in Christ ("Steps"). Even though I've already read a few books by him, every time I do the Steps, I feel a chain come off my life. The Steps and prayers cover everything from identifying the counterfeit vs. the real, deception vs. truth, bitterness vs. forgiveness, rebellion vs. submission, pride and vs. humility, bondage vs. freedom and curses vs. blessings.
Never has there been a better time to arm yourself with the Word of God with weapons to defeat fear. This book gives you tools to break the chains that are holding you back from seeking first the kingdom and fulfilling your purpose, calling and becoming everything you were designed to be! Amen.
