Chapter 1
Mom, Ruth, Grace, Robby and Sammy Thiessen had been turned into mermaids by a magical treasure chest that they found on the beach. Mermaids from the sea had called them out to their kingdom for an important mission and had sent a dolphin family to help the Thiessens. On their journey to Mermaid Kingdom, they ran into some trouble with the evil scientist octopus but managed to escape, with the help of five friendly sea dragons. Finally, the Thiessens, the dolphins and the sea dragons all arrived in Mermaid Kingdom.
Mermaid Kingdom was huge and glowed with magic. A white coral wall surrounded the city. Rising up from the middle of Mermaid Kingdom was a castle. There was a tall tower in the middle of the castle with two shorter towers on each side. Each tower was topped with a huge pink seashell.
A crowd of angry mermaids swam towards their group.
Uh, oh. They don’t look friendly,
said Sammy. Sammy, the five-year-old was the youngest child in the Thiessen family.
Why do they look upset?
asked Swimmy, the baby dolphin.
Maybe it’s because of the sea dragons,
said Robbie. Robbie was seven years old.
Wait! These sea dragons are good!
called Ruth. Ruth was fourteen years old. She was the oldest child in the family.
I think it might be best if we left,
said the mama
