Justin Ryan is a pen name of Anthony Wilbourne. I've been writing and creating for as long as I can remember. As an adult, I earned two Associate degrees, worked as a Web Publisher and launched a website called 1613 Enterprises--among other things. As a child, I won many awards--such as 1st place in high school, 2nd place in a regional art show and Editor's Choice in college. In life, I've been a kind of cowboy--trying this, that or the other. Although it's led me down some dark paths, I'm honored to have experienced the things I had. They've helped me realize what I really want. As a writer, I try and channel the same attributes into my characters--which are often flawed but courageous people who learn from their mistakes and ultimately become stronger, better individuals.

Mini Hacks for Pokémon GO Players - Justin Ryan
INTRODUCTION
Pokémon GO boils down to two main functions: catching Pokémon and battling them. The world of catching is relatively simple: you have Poké Balls, you throw them at monsters, and based on their difficulty level and your own tools, sometimes you’ll catch them and sometimes you won’t. But catching in and of itself is a relatively simple thing to master in Pokémon GO. Battling, though, is a very different beast.

Scattered throughout the endless maps of Pokémon GO are gyms where you are able to throw your Pokémon in the ring and duke it out with an AI version of someone else’s masterful monster. You can train at gyms controlled by your own team, or you can attempt to conquer those being claimed by a rival squad. But to succeed at this battling challenge, your Pokémon will need to be top notch, the very best of the best, not just some random Charmander that hasn’t been leveled up or a Pinsir whose Combat Power might not be as mighty as his claws suggest.
I’m talking about evolved, high CP Pokémon whom you know how to control and effectively use in battle. You’ll need to know which opponents not to face and how to have a solid dodging defense to win.
If you think you’ve got what it takes to battle your way to the top of the Pokémon GO ladder and are not afraid to take a few punches along the way, like my Vaporeon here, then hop on in.

CHAPTER 1
GETTING STARTED
Battling first becomes available in Pokémon GO when you reach Level Five. At that point, you’ll be given the option to join one of three teams: Team Valor, Team Mystic, or Team Instinct. Each team is represented by one of the three legendary birds from the original video game series: Moltres, Articuno, and Zapdos respectively. Team Valor values strength, Mystic is intrigued by evolution and tranquility, and Instinct is driven by intuition and egg hatching. No matter what team you choose, you’ll be able to go up against the other two in battle, and you will be able to train against other Pokémon in gyms that your team currently owns.
Here you can see a gym which is currently controlled by my team, Team Valor.
There are no particular strengths or weaknesses to each team. Some people suspect that joining Team Instinct reveals rarer Pokémon when you’re hatching eggs, or joining Team Valor will give you greater success in battle. But none of that’s been proven, so choose whichever team you feel is best.
After choosing a team, you’ll be officially able to go battle at any gym on the Pokémon GO map. But because you’re only at Level Five,
