I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.
Lord, grant that I may always desire more than I can accomplish.
Genius is eternal patience.
By Michelangelo
Some say that ever ‘gainst that season comes,
Wherein our Saviour’s birth is celebrated,
The bird of dawning singeth all night long,
And then, they say, no spirit dare stir abroad,
The nights are wholesome; then no planets strike,
No fairy takes, nor witch hath power to charm,
So hallowed and so gracious is the time.
By William Shakespeare
Excerpt From In Love with Paris
As I turned with the book still clutched to my chest, I bumped into a wall, well not a wall, but a solid mass of muscle that smelled of some wonderful, smoky, exotic scent. He gently grabbed my shoulders and didn’t let go when I looked up into his enchanting, lash-fringed, green eyes. His perfectly chiseled jaw looked like something Michelangelo might have carved.
"Pardon." His sultry, rich, baritone voice made my stomach flutter.
If I stepped two inches closer, I’d be wrapped in his strong arms. I immediately stepped back. What was I thinking? This gorgeous guy was a complete stranger.
Vous allez bien?
What?
He grinned and the most amazing dimples appeared at the corners of his mouth. Are you all right?
Yes. Sorry, I’m usually not speechless, but you took me by surprise.

CHAPTER ONE
Carey, my best friend from high school and I both turned in our seats when the guy behind us blared his car horn. He barely wedged the front end of his massive Mercedes-Benz behind our Honda Accord at the United Airlines drop-off area at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport—while his rear-end stuck out in traffic.
Come on Paget, get out of the car. You’re going to have the time of your life in Paris,
Carey reassured me.
We’ll see,
I mumbled. I was still disappointed I’d miss my company’s elaborate Christmas party and Carey’s over-the-top, outrageous, annual ugly sweater Christmas party. I looked around all year for the perfect ugly sweater and now I wouldn’t have a chance to wear it. I loved listening and singing along to funny Christmas songs and watching silly Christmas movies late into the night with my friends. Especially eating tons of great food—a chance to pig out and not feel too guilty.
There was nothing better than the beautiful endless colorful lights strung from trees and storefronts lining the city streets. And the festive music that streamed from the department stores packed with people looking, touching, and buying gifts. It filled my heart with joy. Yes, Paris had all those things and more, but I wouldn’t be with my friends to enjoy them.
Spending ten days in Paris, a Christmas gift from my wonderful boss, Mr. Simon, definitely shoved me out of my comfort zone. I’d always wanted to see the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh, and definitely Water Lilies by Claude Monet. As the head art buyer for Simons Department Store, I’d purchased replicas of all of my favorite masterpieces for the store. Now, I’d get to see all of them in person.
"My boss gives everyone a hundred dollar gift card to Starbucks. I’ve always thought that was a
