    Dedication:

I would like to dedicate this book to every person who is pro-active in doing something to rejuvenate their hair, naturally and healthily, without resorting to quick-fix chemical based off-the-shelf- products

    Stephen Charles

    Introduction:

Do you already have that salt and pepper look? What was your initial reaction when you found your first gray hair? When you looked in the mirror and caught your first tell-tales signs of that first grey hair? You must have thought, Oh no... I’m getting old!

    That’s a natural reaction – You’re not alone!

It’s completely natural for anybody to have a negative reaction towards gray hair. Probably because it is one of those signs associated with old age. Nobody wants to look old. This is true for men and women, young or old – Who the heck wants to have grey hair?

Don’t worry; you are just about to learn how to avoid and treat gray hair. And, the good news is it doesn’t matter whether you have just found your very first grey hair or you’ve looked that way for years, treating and reversing grey hair is definitely possible. But before we talk about the solution, let us discuss the problem first. What is it that makes hair turn gray? Are there any particular factors that contribute to the graying of hair?

This report is purposefully short and to the point – Who wants to read X amount of fluff and filler just to hike the price of the book up when a few, simple pages giving clear and precise instructions will do?

The quicker you read, digest and act on the information I have paid out in this guide, the quicker you will see positive results.

Chapter 1: What Causes Normal Hair to Turn Grey?

Over the years, we were led to believe that graying hair means that you are getting old; that’s what grey hair equates to. While it has some truth in it, this is not always the case. Some people can have gray hair even at a very young age, like 20s and early 30s. This condition is called premature graying of hair. Normal graying of hair should start after the age of 50, if at all!

Okay, so anybody can have gray hair at some point in their lives. How does it happen?

In reality, your hair is transparent or colorless. In each hair follicle, there are cells called Melanocytes. Melanocytes are responsible for producing pigments that give color to your hair. One of the pigments produced by these specialized cells is called Melanin and that’s the stuff that gives hair its dark color.

When the Melanocytes in your hair follicle die or stop producing melanin, the result is a colorless or transparent hair appearance, it’s as simple as that. There are several factors that can lead to this condition; I will discuss more of that in the next section of this chapter. Now these colorless hairs are referred to as gray hair because they look gray when seen against the surrounding dark, healthy hair.

Don’t worry... just like any health conditions associated with aging, you can delay and even reverse the onset of gray hair. First, you must understand the factors that contribute to it so here are the main ‘players’ that you are dealing with. Understand the cause and you are halfway to solving the problem.

    1.Stress

    I place stress as No.1; it’s a clear, hands-down winner.

Although there is no clear, specific or scientific connection between stress and the start of graying hair process, experts agree on this and do not eliminate it as one of the factors that contribute to it. According to studies, stress triggers the inflammatory process which increases free radicals in the body. These free radicals are unstable molecules that destroy the cells —- including Melanocytes. Remember what we said about Melanocytes?

    2.Heredity

No escaping from the family tree, and I place is as a very close second placed cause.

Just like balding and any other abnormal hair condition, graying can also be a result of genetic pre-disposition. If your parents developed gray hair at a very young age, there is also a high chance that it will happen to you as well.

    3.Smoking

You would not believe the damage to the human body smoking can cause – even a couple a day is enough to trigger all sorts of malfunctions

Each cigarette contains hundreds of toxic chemicals that can damage body cells. Studies show that smokers are four times more likely to develop gray hair than non-smokers – Did you get that? FOUR times!

    4. Vitamin and mineral deficiency

Vitamins and minerals are essential in the production of melanin. It has been found that a deficiency in vitamin B-12, folic acid, copper and manganese results in your hair turning gray. These nutrients are needed by the body in order to produce adequate amount of melanin. Obviously it is wise to go and check with a health practitioner first, but if you are deficient in certain minerals and supplements it’s a good idea to look at putting it right fast; it’s not just your hair health problem either.

    5. Constant exposure to hair care products

A REAL biggie when it comes to damaging the appearance and condition of your hair.

Some hair care products do not really care for your hair. Some shampoos, styling gel, hair straightening agents, etc., may contain chemicals that can cause damage to your hair follicles. Remember, a healthy hair follicle is the secret to healthy hair. I go into this deeper in my books on hair rejuvenation, but for the case of simplicity and treating and reversing grey hair we will leave it at that for now and refer to it again later.

    6. Medical condition

Premature graying is also linked with some medical conditions like thyroid disorder, pernicious anemia and vitiligo. Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism alter Melanocyte activities, thus affecting Melanin production. Pernicious anemia hinders the absorption of vitamin B-12, an important nutrient in the production of melanin. Vitiligo is an auto-immune disorder characterized by loss of skin and hair pigments.

What does all of that mean? In simple terms it means that an illness, mental or physical can contribute to the condition of your hair. If a recent or sudden illness comes along with the sudden appearance of your gray hair, it may be a sign or manifestation of an underlying medical condition that needs to be diagnosed and corrected. Go see your doctor without delay, okay?

So now we have covered the probable causes of your grey hair let’s move onto how we can effectively deal with and reverse the condition and appearance and get you looking how you should be looking; how you used to. Hair rejuvenation isn’t at all difficult, but it’s not an overnight miracle or something you can reverse with a simple snap of the fingers, so please, for the best results be prepared to dig in for the duration.

    Chapter 2: Words of Advice

If you noticed from the previous chapter, the factors that cause gray hair are normally controllable, except probably for the second one: Heredity. But even that can be ‘persuaded’ to come into line in most cases (in my experience of hair rejuvenation by natural methods) having said that, it is difficult to change our genetic make-up because cannot change our parents... so sometimes you just have to let it go and do alternative methods that, even if they won’t permanently reverse grey hair, will disguise it for you...

    As an old saying goes, prevention is better than cure. This is true even with gray hair. You can start by taking steps to reduce your risk of developing gray hair. Here are a few examples of areas you should be looking at with hair rejuvenation;

    Do some lifestyle changes

I guess I don’t have to tell you to stop smoking; I’ve already made the point on that as clear as possible. It is a known fact that smoking is bad for your health. However, if you are worried about your hair turning gray even faster, then you may want to consider quitting.

Find ways to relieve yourself of stress, especially if your job is highly stressful. You can consider relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation. Regular exercise can also help relieve stress and help eliminate toxins in your body.

    Check your diet

Your diet might be the cause! Since a deficiency in certain nutrients can lead to gray hair, you can correct this by carefully choosing the food you eat so that you get enough of these nutrients. Here is a list of nutrients that are needed by the body in the production of melanin and its sources:

Vitamin B-12 — this is found mainly in meat, eggs and milk. Other good sources of vitamin B-12 are fish, fish eggs, liver, shellfish, cheese, chicken egg yolk, crab and lobsters.

Folic acid – legumes are a good source of folic acid. Examples are: peas, chickpeas, black beans, soy beans, lentils, mung beans, kidney beans and cranberry beans. You can also get folic acid from dark-green leafy vegetables like beets, asparagus, mustard greens, broccoli, parsley, spinach and lettuce.

Copper – Copper can be found in cashew nuts, dried beans, lentils crimini mushrooms, shiitake mushrooms, sesame seeds and dried spirulina,

Manganese – Manganese is found in fruits like avocados, pinapple, and raspberries. Nuts like peanuts, pecans, almonds, and walnuts also contain manganese. Dark-green leafy vegetables are a good source of Manganese.

Food supplements — If you find it difficult to incorporate all these in your daily meal, taking food supplement is indispensible. This will not only help prevent the graying of your hair, it will also ensure that your body gets all the essential nutrients it requires in order for it to carry out its vital processes.

    Go natural

Choose hair care products like shampoos and conditioners that are made from natural-based ingredients and turn away from chemically-stuffed, high street products that in most cases do more harm than good. As consumers become more and more aware of the hazards of synthetic chemicals found in personal care products, we now have a wide range of natural-based products to choose from. Just be careful in making your choice as some products may not be true to their claims. Choose one that is proven to be all natural and has a reputation for good performance.

    Medical Treatment

If your gray hair is a result of underlying medical conditions, seeking medical treatment is vital. If the condition is cured so might your hair condition be too. It’s amazing how a healthy body will greatly help to reverse premature graying
